Last year at SEMA we showed you the prototype of the Bed X-Tender by AMP Research. This year the bed extender is back in production form to add an extra two usable feet to your pickup. AMP is also having great success with their PowerStep and the new Bed Step as well.
Big news in the Toyota booth was their 2008 Tundra Diesel Dually Project vehicle. A crowd was swarming all over it, drooling over the Hino 8 liter high torque powerplant - created with enough horses to push a 35,000lb commercial truck. Roll it out on a Hino Medium Duty rear end, Meritor axles, and 22.5 inch custom Alcoa wheels .
Some of the longest lines of the day - besides the Starbucks cart - were outside at the Tundra Proving Grounds. This gave attendees a chance to test-drive a 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup, and take it over the man-made off road adventure. They couldn't exactly test the acceleration or top speed, but there was plenty of opportunity to check out the turning radius, hill climbing power and suspension. More than 250 people got behind the wheel on Tuesday, and the area was even busier on Wednesday.
We also came across the ultimate extreme machine - a new four-seater Rapid Response Vehicle, by Rhino Outdoor International. We took the opportunity to jump in the passenger seat, signed on Mike Chamberlain as driver, and hit the proving grounds for several laps. Wanna chase illegals with the border patrol, rescue injured dirtbikers in remote Arizona canyons, or - more timely - fight raging high-speed fires in the hills of Malibu? Stay tuned on Off-Road.com for video of it's most basic capabilities, and an in-depth look at the vehicle and the program itself.

Hi-Lift is probably one of the most recognizable names in the offroad industry, and probably makes one of the most common products you'll find on the trails themselves. So it's not surprising they keep coming out with new ways to use their tools, and new entries into the family.
This year, it's the Handle-All. This multi-function tool takes the places of whole slew of heavy and awkward implements. It combines a shovel, sledge hammer, axe and pick axe. Interchangable heads that go on one easily-packable handle.
Delta Tech Industries comes out with their popular lighting in even more options, now with universal mounting for the Jeep TJ and JK. With lights to bolt up from cab to bumper, you are covered. Check out the entire new Iron-Site series, including SkyBar with Xenon lights, combo bar, back lights, hood lights, grill lights, fender lights, and many more. Rubber-sealed, waterproof, glass lenses, invisble wiring and no-drill installation. Control them all with a billet aluminum switch plate, with four-phase control.
