The faster it goes or the more it weighs, the more it takes to stop it. Stainless Steel Brakes Corporation (SSBC) takes your basic component to the next level in customization, offering their new Force 10 Tri-Power caliper in six colored finishes, as well as polished aluminum.
The lightweight construction minimizes ride interference, but the three-piston design means it won't skimp on the stopping power.
As short course off-road racing builds excitement from Crandon WI to Chula Vista CA, fans have been wowed by the the new Trophy Kart class. These half-scale trucks are piloted by the 16-and-under set in the CORR series, and a Modified Adult-only division will be added next season. The #23 Kart of 14-year-old Phil Wenzel was a crowd favorite all week, drawing more attention than even Casey Currie's brand new Nissan sitting next to it.
The name TruckCovers USA is well known for it's bed cover products. Now, after two years of development with 3M Products, they have come out with the American Cargo Light. These ingenious strips of LED lights come in four-foot lengths, and mount flush along the inside edge of any bed cover. Power is supplied either by hard-wiring, a small 9v battery, or a wireless remote to be available soon. Applications for the strip lights are nearly endless - stick them over your running boards for ground effects, in your toolbox lid, under cabinets in your race trailer or in the back of your SUV cargo area.
Hankook Tire USA is proud to announce the Dynapro ATm RF10 light truck/SUV tire. This tire is specifically designed for high powered pickups, with tread that wraps around the edge to the sidewall. Count on extra grip in mud and snow.
Five specific features were addressed in the tread pattern design - angled side goove, for self-cleaning in wet and muddy conditions; scalloped grooves to enhance the biting edges and increase traction; zigzag block edge for grip in wet or icy conditions, stone ejector groove at tthe center and edge, and two deep Wave Kerfs intended to actually increase the tread life. Hot model not included.
Along the lines of new tire technology, we stopped by Amerityre Corp to check out the Desert Racing Technology system. More than just a new tire or a new tread pattern, the DRT presents the sandduner or any off-roader the opportunity to build on a non-treaded "blank", designing a custom tread out of polyurethane.
Interestingly, one lesson we learned was about colored rubber tires, a trend that came on the market about two years ago. The black color in traditional rubber tires comes from carbon - remove that color, the carbon component, and you've weakened the tire considerably.
Also, there are considerable environmental and manufacturing advanstages claimed with a polyurethane product. Stay tuned for more on this, you can be sure.
SEMA is Project Vehicle heaven, and Dick Cepek rolled out their own Project Crusher, a 2008 Ford F-250 SuperDuty. Named for the 38.5x14.5 R20 Crusher Radials it rolls on, it also features Dick Cepek 20x12 DC1 black wheels, Fabtech 10" lift, Dirt Logic 4.0" coil over front and 2.25" rear shocks, Atlas rear leaf springs, Banks six gun tuner, intake, cat back exhaust and power PDA controller, and a whole lot more goodies just for show.
