Started working with ORC in 1996 writing and photographing for the dirtbike section. Once in a while I'll dust off the keyboard and fire off a photo or article.

Each year, the Baja 1000 grows and each year, the madness in contingency row grows. Held a day before the race, tech/contingency is a cluster of city streets blocked off, lined with booths from vendors and racing suppliers, and mobbed by people who want to get close up and personal with the cars, trucks, buggies, bikes and ATVs.

SCORE racing in Baja Mexico has experienced huge growth in recent years and it doesn?t seem this trend is slowing down one bit. At the time of this writing a record 405 starters are poised to do battle in the 2006 Baja 1000 that starts in Ensenada and finishes in La Paz. Out of the 405 entries, 71 of them are entered in various pro motorcycle classes. I ran out of fingers, toes and finger nail clippings to add in the sportsman motorcycle classes.

The 2006 San Felipe 250 is in the history books, but not without some unprecedented events taking place. #38 Garron Cadiente after only competing in three SCORE events brings home the overall win! Garron beat the best of the best in his amazing Trophy Truck conquest, powering by 27 entries that were off the starting line and on the dirt before he even mashed the gas pedal for the green flag. If a relative newcomer's overall win doesn't make your head spin with amazement, take into consideration that the motorcycles had a two hour head start and on corrected time he beat them as well!
