Ever since he was born, Chris Ridgway has lived a colorful life. Like a made-for-TV movie, his past is full of breathtaking highs and devastating lows. When he was only a few years old, the now 37-year-old was kidnapped by his father and taken from California across the country to Virginia. This was in an era when custody in a divorce case was almost always automatically given to the mother, but the senior Ridgway had different ideas and did what he felt was best for his son. Perhaps that event set the tone for the rest of Chris Ridgway's existence, because it hasn't become any more ordinary since then. In fact, Tae Lee of Weko Films has taken notice of Ridgway's remarkable life and has been filming a documentary on him for the past four years. What is it that makes Ridgway so intriguing?

Like that decades-old Mint 400 trophy, his thriving Las Vegas-based business, Kroyer Racing Engines, is bigger than he is.

They say there's no second chance to make a first impression. That tired cliché may be true, but it's based on a premise that's trite, unintelligent and usually bullshit. Discovering the true measure of another's inner character takes investment of time and open-eyed observation.
