As opposed to a racer with leaf springs, PJ and Russell devised this trailing-arm set-up for the Bronco. Again, two Monroe shocks per side were used, as was a coil spring, but notice the anti-sway bar located rear of the axle–mounted similar to the way they are today. As with the fronts, the rear disc brakes are Hurst/Airheart units. Total rear-wheel travel is 10-plus inches.

Combining the Stewart Warner gauges, Hurst shifter and assorted light switches into a compact, custom center console gave extra room to PJ and Stroppe

A set of Taylor Made race seats replaced the previous set of Bostrom suspension seats used early on, but the Simpson four-point harnesses were there from day one. Hand-formed aluminum panels enclose the interior space.

Long before there were specialized off-road pedal assemblies, Parnelli got along just fine using the stock Ford brake pedal.

Though in-helmet air-filtration systems were a few years away, Jones and Stroppe kept refreshed with water from two Coleman jugs. The lines ran from the jugs to stubs on the rollcage behind the drivers heads; all they had to do was reach up and grab the lines for refreshment. The mounting spot also kept the lines from flopping around during racing and the open ends from getting filled with dirt.
