Federico and Peterson receive inaugural Kumho Tire Rookie of the Year honors

November 2001 -- Championship Off-Road Racing drivers Steve Federico of Wilmette, Illinois (Pro-Lite) and Scott Peterson of Arlington, Washington (Super Buggy) are the recipients of the 2001 Kumho Tire Rookie of the Year award in the CORR EXXON Superflo Series.

Seven Pro and six Sportsman drivers competed for the honor of being named the first Kumho Tire Rookie of the Year. Steven Federico won the Pro Rookie of the Year by compiling 191 points over 16 rounds of competition. The former CORR Single Buggy champion (2000) had one win (Round 8-Bark River) and 12 top-five finishes during his first season in the Pro-Lite division. Federico's Ingles Market/Mountain Dew Toyota finished third overall in the Pro-Lite championship standings; 14 points back of 2001 champion Jeff Kincaid.

Scott Peterson joined the Quick 'n Brite racing team in 2001 as a driver in the Super Buggy division. The Sportsman Rookie of the Year had back-to-back wins in Rounds 7 and 8 of the BOSS Snowplow Off-Road Challenge in Bark River, Michigan. Peterson's two victories and five top-five finishes placed him seventh in the final Super Buggy standings with 117 points.
