Editors Note: A
"must have" and perfect gift for all Desert Racing Fans and Baja
Aficionados! SANTA MONICA,
Calif., -- Covering a span of more than three decades and 30,000
rugged off-road miles, the history of the SCORE Baja 1000 is both
rich and colorful. Long considered a world-renowned motorsports
icon, the unique racing event has captured the imagination of three
generations of extreme adventure enthusiasts. Just in time for this year's holiday season, Shoreline Media
Group has announced the immediate availability of "1000 Miles to
Glory," an exclusive documentary that chronicles the excitement and
innovation of the world's oldest off-road race. The show, which was
directed and produced by Jennifer Burns, was first aired on
Speedvision network last year. In a first for the off-road and
desert racing industry, "1000 Miles to Glory" is available as a
DVD, along with the more standard VHS video format. Both versions
offer a bonus segment of more than 10 minutes of vintage and modern
action footage featuring bikes, buggies and trucks; along with a
remastered soundtrack.
Complete with rare
historic footage and newly-taped interviews with race legends, the
"1000 Miles to Glory" chronicles the SCORE Baja 1000's unique
story. From Baja pioneers who made dangerous motorcycle
"record-runs" in the 1960's to modern 800 horsepower Trophy Trucks
that defy description, the event has provided an inspiring
environment for vehicle technology and innovation. Baja race
legends including Ivan "Ironman" Stewart, Parnelli Jones, Robby
Gordon, Walker Evans, Malcolm Smith, Bruce Meyers and the late Joe
Parkhurst provide an insightful and emotional look at what makes
the annual Mexican event so special. Race promoter and SCORE
International CEO Sal Fish provides the personal narration to the
intriguing Baja 1000 story.

to Glory" DVD and video are the second of three special tributes
based on the SCORE Baja 1000. Much of the interview footage was
used in the production was taped last September at the
once-in-a-lifetime "1000 Miles to Glory" fundraising event held at
the Petersen Automotive Museum. In addition, the script for the
documentary was written by Marty Fiolka, the author of a new coffee
table book entitled "Baja: 1000 Miles to Glory" will be released by
MBI Publishing in May, 2002.
