When offering descriptions of our off-road nation, the term colorful is one that is used often and for good reason. Venture into the pits of a short-course race or rock event, or hike any contingency row and you are surrounded by color. The personalities are colorful. The manufacturer displays are colorful. Everything is colorful, right down to the paint schemes on the potpourri of racing vehicles and chase vehicles on hand to do the business of racing.

Having started the 2088 CORR season with a brand new Amsoil/Kumho Ford Pro 4, Scott Douglas has been surprisingly consistent while dialing in the truck. By the time he reached round eight at Chula Vista, Douglas had posted five podium finishes in six events. By the time he left Chula Vista, he had his Pro 4 first win of the year.
Venture past the Amsoil/Kumho Tire pits of Championship Off Road Racing legend Scott Douglas, and you'll find somewhat of a stark contrast. At first glance, the subdued gray-and-black paint scheme that adorns Douglas' Ford Pro 4 is subdued at best. The truck's hues do, however, provide a solid background for the striking logo of Douglas' main sponsor, Amsoil.

Douglas has been a full-time professional racer for 17 years. His list of championships includes titles in sanctions, such as SODA and HDRA, that he has outlasted as a driver.
No surprise then, that as the CORR season approaches its midway point at Chula Vista International Raceway near San Diego, California, Douglas, who had been the model of consistency since round one of the series in Pomona, is looking to shake things up a little bit. Despite having scored five podium finishes in six Pro 4 starts thus far, Douglas is still looking for his first win of the year at Chula Vista, the crown jewel facility of the burgeoning short-course series.

"We've been consistent all year long up to this point," Douglas says while watching his team make preparations to his truck. "We've been getting on the podium, but it's just time to step it up a tick and go after the points lead. That's the plan."

Brake issues have plagued the Douglas team for much of 2008. Yet somehow, Douglas has not finished outside the top 10 this season.
But the tension has begun to mount.

"The frustration started to set in over the last event or so," Team Douglas crew chief Bill Smith says. "We know that the chassis is fast and that Scott can do it. We've won a lot of races over the past two or three years together with pretty much this same team."

At Chula Vista, it is time to make a move.
