Although Lance Clifford captured an impressive points lead early in the season, winning both the Farmington and Vernal, he doesn't believe one bit that he's got the Goodyear/Skyjacker Extreme Rock Crawling Nationals season championship in the bag. According to him, he's still got to place sixth or better before he can walk away with that coveted crown, and with the competition crawling down the trail Friday and Saturday, it ain't going to be easy. Anything can happen. Ken Shupe and The Legendary Moose, are on the war path in second place, well within reach of the title. Another man with a big time chance and changing the uncertain odds is John Gilleland behind the wheel of his Jeep Liberty.Remarkably, in its first full season of factory-backed rock crawling competition, BFGoodrich has made its way to the top, using its Krawler TA to put the top three teams into position. One way or another, it's a sure bet that BFG will take home the championship this season. In case you're still slaving away at work and pondering the notion of weather to make your way out to Johnson Valley or not, you may want to consider that there will be some big parties tonight all along the dry lake bed. Off-road race team, Nelson and Nelson, are rumored to be hosting an introduction party in honor of their favored tire, BFG. The team is said to be building a tube frame chasis for crawling competition.
