SHANNON CAMPBELL WINS
UROC PRO NATIONAL SEASON SERIES |
Vernal, Utah ~ In a script that was made for
television, the underdog, Mark Berger and his little 37" inch Toyo
Tires were victorious here in Vernal, Utah after a battle on the
rocks that have been named Coney Island. Berger was the final
competitor who took to the Main Event obstacle and he chose to do a
spotter ride that catapulted him into the record books. This win is
the first ever win for Toyo Tires at a UROC Pro National event.
Berger was estactic afterwards pumping his fist into the air and
claiming the tough battle for victory. Berger bested Shannon
Campbell by the narrowest margin, three points after a long
weekend. Campbell did all he could in the Main Event obstacle and
put the pressure on Berger to step up and perform. Berger performed
big and drove his Twisted Customs built rock rig to his first win
of the 2005 season.

Coney Island - Vernal, Utah The theme of the day
so far is high scores and an epic conefest on the Super Modified
side here at the Coney Island amphitheater. With temperatures in
the high 80's and sunny skies the finals of the UROC Pro-National
Series is well under way. Shannon Campbell has been on fire and
although he nearly timed out on his first obstacle, #6, he put the
Currie sponsored rock rig through the end gate with only seconds to
spare. Campbell appears to be on the way to capturing his first
ever Pro National Championship. Don "The Maverick" Robbins roared
up to the top of obstacle # 5 and came off the ridge heading
straight down a 10 foot drop. To keep his rock rig from going over
the top he hammered the gas in standard "Maverick" style and made
an incredible save as his rock rig was nearly all the way over on
its side. The crowd gasped as The Maverick made the save and came
to a stop. The Maverick's groupie fan club all stood up and cheered
him on. The Maverick is on a terror in search on the event win here
at Vernal.

Update |
- The Wells Brothers have started on obstacle # 7 and made a clean
move over the first ledge of the obstacle standing about 8 feet on
a steep incline. Now through the deep v-gap they have crested the
top of the ridge and are dropping into the bowl before heading to
the end gate. The left rear is two feet in the air as Peter inches
forward and Frank runs over the rocks stacking rocks. The team is
very close to the end gate as they are using pure horsepower in
hopes of inishing the last climb of the obstacle, however after
using a ton of horsepower they have just timed out in the first
obstacle. - On obstacle # 4 Becca Webster and Rich Klein tackle the
obstacle that has been slightly changed for the Modified Stock
teams. On Day 1 the entry gate was the most difficult part of the
obstacle, however it has since been broken by competition yesterday
forcing UROC to open up the start gate to be wide and much more
easy. -Jason Bunch ran a clean run on his first obstacle here at #
5 as he showed the top teams the best line leading the way with his
Goodyear tires. -Walker Evans and Nick Campbell are up on obstacle
# 8. Stay tuned....

winningest tire in off-road competition, BFGoodrich, in the Super
Modified division.
Toyo Tire sponsored - Well's Brothers led all Super
Modified teams with an incredible +26 points after the first day of
competition. Frank Wells said, "We're planning to play it smart and
keep our truck together. Today's a tough day and we're leading off
the line first this morning so we'll just wait and see how it goes.
Our Toyo Tires are really sticky. We climbed obstacles yesterday
that no other non-Toyo sponsored teams could climb. Toyo Tires are
performing excellent."
