For Immediate Release
LAKE FOREST, CA ( March 1, 2005) It’s the
little things that often keep a team from taking home the trophy.
Such was the case for Team Renezeder last weekend at the SCORE San
Felipe 250. Throughout the first 120 miles of the most unforgiving
course in recent SCORE history, all that could be heard over the
team radio was the calling out of mile markers and a common phase:
“no problems, everything’s lookin’ good.”
Driver, Carl Renezeder, and co-driver, Mike Seat, left the line 13
th out of 21 trucks and by mile marker 120 were fourth physically
on the course and in the top three on corrected time. All of that
changed at mile marker 124, when a broken distributor, masking
itself as a variety of problems, put a stop to all hopes of a
podium finish. “We thought it ran out of gas, the way it was
acting,” explained Carl. “We were close to Mark
Post’s pit and his guys helped push us to their fueling tower
and pumped gas into our tank. When that didn’t solve the
problem, we knew we had a bigger issue and called our chase truck
over to tow us to our pit six miles away.” Unfortunately, you can’t spend that
much time in the pit during a 250 mile race and hope to finish
well. The team diligently worked on the problem, eventually solved
it and sent the truck back out on the course. Team Renezeder made
it to the finish in the 12 th position, which was no small feat
considering less than 10 trucks made it to mile marker 90 without
encountering problems. “ This course was had the
potential to be brutal on our truck. A lot of guys experienced
that, but I’m proud to say that this truck was flawless
except for the distributor problem,” commented Carl.
“Everyone was worried about flats, trannys and shock wear,
but our BFGs were solid, our Rancho Transmission was 100% reliable,
our King Shocks never faded, and Lucas Oil kept our motor together,
even when it was running a bit hot at the end of the race. This
truck is a rolling testimonial for the all the quality products
that make it work. ”All of the action from San Felipe will be
covered in a one-hour show on the Outdoor Channel July 2 nd. Also,
