FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAKE FOREST, CA (July 13, 2005) The two-by-two start, inverted according to points, made Carl Renezeder earn every finish this past weekend at Heartland Park Topeka for the midseason event of Championship Off-Road Racing. In one of the best contested rounds of Pro-2 racing in CORR history, Carl found himself if the middle of it all for 22 laps on the heavy clay surface. Starting in the fifth position, he quickly found his way around Kevin Probst and Evan Evans and set his sights on Scott Douglas. Unfortunately, with the motor laying down at the top of third gear, Carl was unable to get around him. But, after parts-eating weekends at Crandon and Lake Odessa, a podium finish in Round 7 was a nice change of pace. Dominating performance is a great definition of Carl’s Pro-4 season, and Round 7 was no exception. Starting seventh at the drop of the green didn’t discourage Carl. At the exit of turn one on lap one, Carl motored into third place and was on the hunt for a victory. After getting past second place finisher Curt LeDuc, Carl and Rick Huseman then went on to entertain the crowd for a handful of laps with slide jobs, drag races and gutsy moves. In the end, Carl got around Huseman in the big sweeping turn, made it stick and drove away, practically on cruise control in his Lucas Oil Chevy by the time the checkered flag waved. “We try hard to put a package together that’s fast and yet is going to make it to the finish line,” Renezeder said. “That’s the key. You can’t build something that only gets you part of the way there, so I’m real happy with how things turned out.” He was just as happy on Saturday when his Lucas Oil Pro-2 found its way to the top of the podium. You could almost hear the collective sigh from all the team members as Carl crossed the finish line first after a well-fought 22-lap battle. The team looked to be on its way to another victory in the Pro-4 division when Jason Baldwin collected Carl at the end of the rhythm section, flipping both trucks, ripping the rear end out of Carl’s ride and sidelining him to a seventh place finish. There’s a fine balance between lightning fast and durable in these trucks. Although a 15-minute race seems like a sprint rather than endurance, a lot is asked of these trucks over those 15 minutes. Low end torque, high end speed, agility through the rough sections, the right balance through the corners, a fast and reliable motor, and BFGoodrich tires that provide the right grip without fading all add up to the winning package that make up Team Renezeder’s Lucas Oil Pro-4 and Pro-2 trucks. Carl is now only 20 points behind Scott Taylor in Pro-2 (a win earns 20 points) in second place and leads Jason Baldwin by 16 points in Pro-4. Each of the Lucas Oil CORR Pro Series rounds are televised on Speed Channel, with Round 2 from Lake Odessa airing this Friday, July 15th at 10:00pm EST.
