TEAM USA – OFF ROAD

Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
9 A.M. CST June 30, 2005

Team USA Off Road welcomes the McMillin Team to Crandon. Friday morning saw the team setting up for the weekend events with the addition of Andy McMillin, the 18 year old Baja 500 Winner taking the seat for the weekend in the #27 Marines Truck. The McMillin crew set up a test at a local track for Andy to become familiar with the truck. The Kid has talent to say the least. All was set to go Saturday morning and Kevin and Andy played a bit of tag team driving so Kevin could give Andy a guided tour of Crandon’s World famous facility. The stage was set for the 5th round of the 2005 season in Pro 2.

Just prior to race time, Andy slipped and injured his knee. Scott McMillin (Andy’s Father) and family took the young driver to the hospital. #27 was parked for the race.

Kevin took the green in the #99 US Army entry on his Toyo Open Country MT Tires. The infamous land rush start saw Taylor with the lead and Kevin right behind in 2nd. Evan Evans was all over the #99 to no avail as Taylor and Probst held off chargers for a few laps. On Lap 3, Kevin landed off the American Axle jump and broke a left rear shock. Not a normal situation as these shocks just never break shafts. Limping, Kevin continued on to finish 5th on the day.

Round 6 Sunday morning had Taylor in 1st, Hinman 2nd and Probst. The truck engine was not pulling properly and Kevin fell back to 5th. Andy’s Father Scott entered the race in Andy’s seat and took the green as well. The #27 truck did fine with Scott driving in his first Pro 2 short course race. Scott continued to pick up the pace and got close in lap times to the leaders by race end. At the finish, it was Taylor, Hinman, Baldwin, Probst, with Scott McMillin finishing 8th still on the lead lap. The crew found the problem to be a bad accelerator pump in the primary circuit of the Carb in Kevin’s truck. Repaired, the team readied themselves for the Potowatomi Cup Race.

Later Sunday afternoon, the team entered the Cup race which pits Pro 2, Pro4, and Sportsman 2 trucks against each other. At the green, Kevin was 5th among the Pro 2 starters. Making his way up to 3rd before the Pro 4 trucks started passing (The Pro 2s were handicap started 1000 feet ahead of Pro 4). At race end, the order was Josh Baldwin, Jason Baldwin, LeDuc, Taylor, Renezeder, McCrossan, and Probst. Kevin was the 3rd Pro 2.
