In an unparalleled display of driving ability and speed, Rocket Man Dan Baudoux “Ran the table” in rounds 5 and 6 of the Lucas Oil Series of Championship Of Road Racing at Crandon International Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin June 25th and 26th. Winning Both races Saturday and Sunday propelled the #217 Sportsman 2 truck of Baudoux into the division lead. With 99 points heading into Topeka, Kansas for rounds 7 and 8, a track that Baudoux has dominated in the past, Team Baudoux now controls their own fate in the quest to win three class championships consecutively, something never before accomplished in the division. In round 5 on Saturday, amidst thousands of excited race fans, and beautiful mid 70 degree weather, Baudoux was positioned in 11th place out of 12 starters for the race. Taking the ‘Hole Shot” at the green flag, Dan was first to reach turn one of the famous and fast race track, and never looked back. With each lap, Baudoux increased his lead absolutely dominating the field. After the race, holding up his first place trophy, and receiving a kiss from the beautiful Crandon presentation models, Dan thanked his sponsors, CST Performance Suspension, BF Goodrich Tires, Mistequay Motorsports, Turn One, Teamtech Motorsports Safety Equipment and Royal Purple Synthetic Lubricants. Baudoux also gave special credit to his racing team led by crew chief John Blues who has worked incredibly hard this year to put Dan out front and to his engine builder Rob Wright who continually keeps horses pounding under the hood for team Baudoux. On Sunday, round 6 proved to be a near repeat of Saturday’s event. With a “No Holds Barred” mentality, Dan and the team were absolutely determined to take back-to-back victories and regain the Sportsman 2 points lead. Again lining up in the starting grid in the 11th position Dan put the hammer down at the green flag, again making it to treacherous turn one, as the lead truck. Never looking back, Rocket Man proved true to his nickname literally launching his truck into a commanding lead after only a few laps. Virtually coasting to victory, Dan again took the podium at the first place truck and Sportsman 2 points leader. After the two impressive wins and an incredible weekend, Baudoux was quoted as saying, “This weekend was just perfect in every respect. The team clicked, the truck ran like a watch, I felt confident and the track was perfect. It is amazing to me how BFGoodrich can provide me DOT tires that give me incredible power and grip on these tracks and allow me to fly in slick, greasy conditions. Without them, CST, Turn One, all our sponsors and a total team effort, this could never be possible.” Asked if this weekend marks the beginning of a duplication of last seasons impressive 6 wins in a row, Rocket Man stated, “That certainly would be nice to do, but in this sport we are happy with each and every victory. We take it one race at a time, one win at a time, and see where that takes us. It is just too difficult and the competition too tough to make predictions like that in this sport, but we’ll give it our best shot!” Check your local Speed Channel listings or the Championship Off Road Racing web site for televised race schedules and be sure to catch “Rocket Man” July 8th and 9th in beautiful Topeka, Kansas for rounds 7 and 8 of the Lucas Oil Championship Off Road Racing Series as he continues in his quest to THREE-PEAT as Sportsman 2 Class Champion.
