FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LAKE FOREST, CA ( June 27, 2005) It was the sort of weekend that tests fortitude. In five races, Team Renezeder lost
two motors and threw two belts on a third motor. But, this championship contending team did everything they could to salvage
points and rally together to keep up morale. The Spring CORR event at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway this past weekend was a
bit brutal on the team, but as they say (you know, those philosophical types that always have the right cliché to match
the moment), “That’s racing.” While at times throughout the weekend all of the team members could have come up
with much a more colorful word than “racing”, when all is said and done, bad luck really is part of the game. And in the
same way it’s unwise to rest on your laurels, it’s just as important to put a tough weekend behind you and look ahead to
the next event. That’s what champions do, and that’s what this team will do. On a more positive note, Carl still leads the Pro-4 points with a second place finish in round five (making it five top-two finishes in as many races) and a fifth place finish in round six, so all was not lost. Plus, it’s hard to match the
magic and excitement of the land rush start at Crandon. While the starting line is out of sight for most spectators, it’s
definitely within earshot. A quiet hum of motors quickly grows louder at the throw of the green flag and within seconds a full
field of raw horsepower comes full throttle through the right hand sweeper insufficiently coined turn one. Most of the weekend presented a one-groove track making the hole shot paramount. Consistent with the luck of the
weekend, the race when he came out of turn one in the lead was also one of the races that left him with seven of the original eight
connecting rods. A big cloud of smoke during lap eight, right in the middle of one heck of a dog fight with Johnny Greaves, finished
the day for the Pro-4, meaning the Governor’s Cup would have to be contested in the Pro-2. Carl finished a respectable fifth
overall and second in Pro-2 in the Cup race. In another Pro-2 race, Carl came out of the land rush in ninth place, worked his way up to
second, only to have the motor seize. Appropriately, Carl came on the radio and made the ironic statement, “Man, we can’t
buy a break in this thing.” But, while others would rather be lucky than good, Carl looks forward to the next event, two night races at Heartland
Park Topeka, July 8 th and 9 th, with optimism brought about by confidence in his crew. “I feel terrible for these guys
because the one thing they can’t control has failed them. We’re putting the pieces back together and I’m
confident that they’ll give me two trucks in Topeka that are the ones to beat.” Both trucks were wicked fast at different
times throughout the weekend, but there’s only one lap worth leading, and if you don’t make it to the last lap you lose.
Plain and simple. At Topeka, the team will rise to the challenge of finding the fine balance between fast and durable. # # #
