Welcome to our 2003 Baja 1000 coverage. As this is being typed we are somewhere in Mexico with little sleep so please forgive any mistakes… Sal Fish head of SCORE rocked the off road world with the introduction of legendary racer Mario Andretti as Grand Marshall of the event.

The accomplished racer sat on a panel with other pavement racers that have been bitten by the Baja racing bug. Andretti said he has known of the 1000 but never attended and added “I’ve been asked to race in Mexico and I’ll never say I won’t do it”. CART Champion - Jimmy Vasser, NASCAR racer and Off-Road racing legend - Robbie Gordon, Mexican, Indy Racer – Michel Jordain jr further represented diverse talents of motorsports all with roots, interest or success in Baja. Michel went a bit further, setting a new bar for the definition of “A Motorsports Legend” telling Mario that you must win both the LeMans and the Baja 1000 to reach such status.

Dale Ebberts is poised to take the SCORE, Class 1 points championship.

Tecate Girls stand back! The Coca-Cola Girls when the prize for the Baja 1000. Can you say "HOT!"

Racing his Class 8 truck in SCORE's top "Trophy Truck" class, Curt LeDuc is looking for the big win. Win or not, it's great to see Curt back in Baja in a big way.

"Mr. Monster Garage" - Jesse James was on hand for his first Baja 1000. Watch for a "Trophy Truck" build on the Monster Garage, TV series. Jesse aims to play in the big leagues to include a run at the Paris to Dakar race in 2004.

Rick Sieman jumped in for a group photo with DP Racing. DP, is tied for the Class 21 points race and has dedicated this race to Andy Specht, their teamate whom died from injuries suffered during a crash while preparing for the Baja 1000.

Sixteen lights! Millions of candlepower. The Class 1 car of Dale Ebberts sports, sixteen, super-bright, Hella HID lights.

The Japan based, Honda engineers brought out the latest iron for the Baja 1000. The new 450 quads will be ridden by the Cycle Parts West team with John Gregory up front.

Protruck driver, Rick L. Johnson takes a moment with his wife surrounded by the energy of thousands of race fans.
