Farmington, New Mexico - October 8-12
A Grand Over Insanity In Search of Glory By Fidel Gonzales
Daily SUPERCRAWL Coverage At Off-Road.com

Ken Shupe and Walker Evans are at the top of the day's results with a lot at stake in SUPERCRAWL Unlimited Class competition.

The RPMs were a grand over insanity on many of the near vertical obstacles in Choke Cherry Canyon. The results were phenomenal and will certainly make for a great day of entertainment for the slew of spectators expected tomorrow. Today was impressive. Tomorrow will be epic.

Shupe, just four points into the lead, is working toward a full-blown sweep for the rookie tire on the rocks, the BFGoodrich Krawler TA. So far, the tire has captured victory at each event in the RCAA and UROC series this years, resulting in two major championships its first year out of the mold. A victory tomorrow in Choke Cherry Canyon would scribe a remarkable feat into the lengthy history books of BFGoodrich motor sports.

Evans is Goodyear. He is a legend known for many great feats in off-road racing history. He's blazed victory trails from Baja to Crandon - all aboard Goodyears. When he returned from off-road racing retirement to enter the ranks of rock crawling several years ago, he entered into victory immediately, piloting the prominent rock crawling tire, the Goodyear MT/R onto the podium. Lately, he's gone without a win, and his hunger grows fierce for a top finish tomorrow. The final day of competition for the 2002 SUPERCRAWL aims to be his shot at redemption.

Obviously, anything can happen tomorrow as the competition heats up in Unlimited Class honors. Summit Truck Style's Mike Shaffer, running BFG's, could easily slip into the top slot, sitting 11 points back from first after day one. Ian Liljeblad is 15 points back on Goodyears.

In Legend Class, it's much of the same. BFGoodrich is up top, but this time with a huge 34 point lead. Tyler Wolford leads the charge in his Jeep CJ-7. Amy Bulloch is second in charge going into tomorrow's competition aboard her Jeep equipped with Goodyears.

Amy Bulloch slid down the notoriously steep downhill walls in a calculated fashion, but it wasn't good enough to place better than second in Legends Class. Top positioning for the day went to Tyler Wolford, who leads the pack with 34 points.

Jennifer Little's assault on the rock walls of this obstacle was quite impressive but resulted in a blown hydraulic line in her steering.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's coverage, when the King Of SUPERCRAWL is crowned, brought to you exclusively by Randy's Ring and Pinion.
