Trophy Truck - This class is where the action is. Jesse Jones will be first off the line in his new truck. Although he's got a precision operation, so do the others in the field who have tried and tested trucks. Keep an eye out for Dan Smith/David Ashley, Scott Steinberger, Brian Collins/Larry Ragland. If by chance the tranny holds, the pack of Trophy Trucks will have much to worry about from Ed Herbst.

18 Jesse Jones
81 Mark Miller
1 Dan Smith
66 Josh Baldwin
3 Mark Post
9 Darren Skilton
12 Brian Collins
99 Nick Baldwin
5 Juan C. Ibarra
19 Ed Herbst
7 Scott Steinberger
44 Rich Hoffman
4 Gus Vildosola

Class 1

We'd say the Class 1 battles of late are by far the most competitive, especially since the build up of the Pro Dirt movement. We think it'll be this class that overalls the four-wheel race, especially since it was this class that won last year on what aims to be the very same remarkably tight course.

Plain and simple, this one is a toughest classes to call. If we had to go by recent winners in the class, we'd have no choice than to consider Best in the Desert Terrible's Town Troy Herbst, who finished second in class at the Laughlin Desert Challenge and second Class 1 at last year's 500. Another team not to be rulled out is the charge of the Dondel brothers, who struck up a win at Laughlin. They'll be competing against San Felipe winners Mike Julson and Steve Sourapas and last year's 500 winner Mark Millin, who more or less broke the ice for many of the Class 1 overall victories to come since.

Although Damen Jeffries has been more victorious in his Trophy Truck lately, he may spring up with a surprise victory driving a buggy, a trait that made him famous early in his career.

101 Michael James
102 Dale Ebberts
103 Andrew Myers
100 Troy Herbst
105 John Marking
106 Mike Julson
107 Kory Scheeler
108 Lobsam Yee
109 Marty Merlendrez
110 Scott McMillin
111 Gary Weyhrich
112 Pat Dean
113 Chuck Hovey
114 Mark McMillin
115 Dan Myers
116 Alberto Coppola
117 Ron Brant
118 Ed Stewart
119 Damen Jeffries
120 Corky McMillin
121 Jesse Jones
122 Stuart Chase
123 Cesar Fuentes
124 Mike Groff

Class 1/2-1600

This class lost a tough competitor when Rob MacCachren opted out after his four-championship season last year. Judging by who we have on this list, there's no question that the Kash Vessels team that includes the additional powerhouse of Jason Hatz and Jimmy "The" Hook taking turns at the seats. Gus Vildosola, Jr. certainly have a shot, but it'll be a long one when combining the amount of support the Vessels team will have on its side.

1601 Travis Fletcher
1602 Jeff Quade
1603 Juan J. Naranjo
1604 Brian Jeffrey
1605 Kash Vessels
1606 Ken Browne
1607 Gus Vildosola, Jr.
1608 Steve Roberts
1609 Jake Maness
1610 Alejandro Navarette R.
1649 Brian Ickler-RS

Class 3

Ouch! Let's not even get into this one. You've got up and comer Casey Currie, Jeepspeed champion Barrie Thompson and the always competitive Clive Skilton. Oh, and did we mention Billy Bunch.

301 Clive Skilton
302 Ryan Wallace
303 Casey Currie
304 Rich Severson
305 Donald Moss
306 Barrie Thompson
347 Yann Festa-3rd RS
348 Chrisophe Pit-2nd RS
300 Billy Bunch-1st RS

Class 5

Let's see here, even when Checker George "El Chivo" Seeley does have competition, he shuts them down, unless the name behind the wheel happens to be Dave Cua. Seeley will likely have Cua to contend with, but it's unlikely.

500 George Seeley, Jr.

Class 5-1600

Hmmmm. We'll take San Felipe winner Allan Gregory for 500.

551 J.J. Holmes, Jr.
552 Rob Taylor
553 John Castillo
554 Ruben Gutierrez, Jr.
555 Oscar Galindo
550 Allan Gregory

579 Daniel Lopez-1st RS

Class 7

Craig Turner is a safe call for this race.

701 Hector Salazar
700 Craig Turner

714 Ryan Noble-RS

Class 7s

The three amigos of Guadalupe Wash are in this mix. This race is up for grabs. Whoever can hold a steady pace will come out on top. If we had to choose between a Toyota, the Ford and a Chevy, we'd take. . . Nevermind. This is a driver's race. We're thinking it's Siewert's turn for a 500 victory.

721 Eric Hardin
722 Bruce Landfield
720 Doug Siewert

739 Mike Horner-RS

Class 8

With as much heart and love for the sport Joe Patelli has, we'd like to see him be the first accross the finish line, but he'll have to beat Nick Vanderwey aboard the Mad Cow.

801 Dave Raimonde
802 Kurtis Kupiec
803 Beny Canela
804 Robby Fallers
805 Nick Vanderwey
806 Joe Patelli

Class 9

McGuffin will be the one who determines the outcome of this race.
901 Darin McGuffin
902 Scott Hewitt
903 Tom McAdams

946 Eliseo Garcia-4th RS
947 Tony Modica-3rd RS
948 Eric Fisher R.-2nd RS
949 Ed McLean-1st RS

Class 10

Eli Yee was the man at San Felipe, but a 500 victory is anyone's in this class. There are some real heavy hitters. And with the creation of Pro 10, it's tougher for anyone to hit a homer.

1001 Harley Letner
1002 Ray Croll
1003 Whit Courtenay
1004 Smitty Schmidt
1005 Mark Hutchins
1006 Dave Sundquist
1007 Sean Sessa
1008 Ron Dalke
1009 Ron Brookshire
1010 Rick Ellison
1011 Dennis Hunter
1012 Steve Melton
1013 Steve Myers
1014 Charles Lathren
1015 Jason Hunter
1016 Sam Hilfiker
1017 Scott Sellers
1018 Jerry Higman
1019 Martin Christensen
1020 Richard Beck
1021 Mike Williams
1022 Eli Yee
1023 Jay Culbertson
1024 Jim Anderson

1049 Tim Hayosh-RS

Class 11

There's virtually no chance of Eric Solorzano losing this one. Most racers wish they had it this easy.

1101 Alfredo Chavarin
1100 Eric Solozano-RS

Class 12

It's tough to bet against San Felipe winner Arturo Honold, but we will just to prove a point. Jerry Penhall hasn't claimed a Baja 500 victory since '99. He's do to prove himself again.

1201 Jesse Ashcraft
1202 Ken Stroud
1203 Morely Williams
1204 Toby Gaerin
1205 David Deatley
1206 Jerry Penhall
1207 Steve Greinke
1208 Michael Cohen
1209 Shad Kennedy
1210 Tom Ridings
1211 Mark Kyle
1212 Arturo Honold
1213 VACATE

1248 Vic Bruckmann-rs
1249 Mike Voyles-RS

Class Protrucks

Try Steve Barlow. There are some tough competitors in this class by it seems that the Red Bull truck has the edge ever since Scott Steinberger has upgraded to Trophy Truck. With that said, keep an eye on Hawaiian Alan Pflueger and "The Syko" Dave Sykes.

213 Ryan Herzog
228 Daniel Hunt
226 Al Hogan
240 Wally Hrdlicka
255 Alan Pflueger
229 Lee Patten
292 Bob Shepard
269 Dave Sykes
222 John Becker
299 Steve Barlow
217 Jim Stiles
250 Gary Magness-RS

Stock Mini

Bob Land?

761 Robert Land

Stock Full

John Griffin and that's final.

860 John Griffin
879 Kevin Conlin-RS

Sportsmen Buggy

We'll have to hand the shot at winning this race to George Jackson.

1401 George Jackson
1402 Gorden Grevel
1499 Abraham Flores-RS

Class 21 Motorycle - 250cc and Under

Eddie Zeller is the likely winner in this round.

101x Eddie Zeller
102x Gerardo Rojas
103x Jos Desrosiers

Class 22 Motorycle - Open Pro

Steve Hengeveld is the man at the helm of the Open Pro Motorcycles. Don't be surprised though if Andy "Goodwill" Grider and Danny "Cactus Balls" Cooper kills the Henge's hopes of victory with a fluke finish upon the podium. At the BITD KTM 150, Cooper and Hengeveld rode their own bikes and Grider filled in the usual co-rider duties where needed. Since Grider is the ROR here, Cooper will likely fill in - unless injured Jonny Campbell gets back on the bike from some broken bones suffered at BITD's Terrible's Town race. We don't know much about Keith Mayes, who not only starts first but also has a record of motorcross wins to his belt. Brian Pinard will ride for Temecula Motorsports in hopes of clinching his first Class 22 win. To do so, he'll have to ride like he's never ridden before.

2x Keith Mayes
3x Stephen Stenberg
1x Steve Hengeveld
5x Brian Pinard
6x Erik Floen
7x Andy Grider
8x Sydney Schneider
9x Jose A. Meza

Class 21 Motorycle - Over 30

Since Kevin Ward walked away with a victory at San Felipe, we're counting on him for this race, but then again, it would be good to see 4 Wheel Drive & Sport Utility staffer Christian Lee celebrate with a victory.

301x Jim O'Neal
302x Christian Lee
303x Mike Martin
304x Kevin Ward

Class 21 Motorycle - Over 40

Jim O'Neal is the man on this 50-50.

400x Jim O'Neal
449x Dave Simpson-RS

Class 24 Quad

You can't finish first unless you first finish.
101a Luis Navarro

Class 25 Quad - Open Pro

For as small as this class is, it will be tough. Although John Gregory wears the No. 1 plate, he'll have to shake the speed of San Felipe winner Jimmy Stephensen and Temecula Motorsports' "Early" Thigpen, who led the race by more than 18 minutes until he missed a pit and ran out of gas.

2a Jerry Larimore
3a Jimmy Stephensen
1a John Gregory
5a Earl Thigpen

Class Sportsmen Motorcycles

SPTS. M/C> You can't finish first unless you first finish.
