Strange To Say The Least

Source: Dirt Sports

My baja experiance was strange to say the least. After fighting the desert for 22 hours my partner Ron Graham who is no longer with us and I...won class 9 in 1979 when i got out of the car there was 2 people . At the finish line the flag man and Ron..who had a bottle of tequila in his hand. I parked the beat to hell car and walked with my partner to the beach and proceded to kill that bottle. Back then off road was growing ...but now with hundreds of people at the finish line and thousands all over the course..I wish my old partner Ron was hear to see how far it has come. His last race was vegas to reno in 1987 in witch we won in class 1.

God Bless you Ron

Dude,

You guys were flying past us at Borrego, yep, I was the guy that took some #270 rocks and dirt yelling to blast harder..when you guys came by us you were very strong, but this 1000 beat some cars up way before Borrego.

That's awesome that you guys won.....I did call you on the radio, but then at the same time I heard Scotty on the radio trying to find the pit with the yellow tarp...etc, I didn't want to interrupt and you guys sounded busy!!! I got some great shots. We just got home late last night around midnight, after spending time in and around San Felipe etc..

Again, nice job on the win!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk with you soon...

Desert Bull

Thanks man!

Borrego is a trip. You drive so far without seeing a soul then, there is a mass crowd at that area.

Also, "The Summit" is before this leg and it IS EVIL!

We had a great time. Send your photos soon!

Cheers

Hi,

I live in Cupertino, California (Northern Calif. about 10 miles from San Jose, CA). Would like to see you Baja l000 Off-Road Race 200l special airing in Dec. Am not sure if I would get this channel. I subscribe to cable company in my local area called AT&T Broadband.

Clueless in Cupertino,

Pettis10

Uhhhh. I don't watch TV. And I don't know that Shoemaker will be doing the Baja much longer.
