Baja Grande! Imagine if you will, a race with speed limits. Now, imagine a racer getting pulled over for speeding, and the car impounded. Not possible you say? Think again, folks. This is the Baja 500, and anything can happen. While highlights of the day included Jonah Street, and Larry Ragland topping off their respective classes, and Gustavo Vildosola trying to make muerte' souffle out of ORC's fearless leader, the most memorable moment came from the impounding of the Bekki Freeman Class 1/2-1600 - for speeding. Many racers were caught in the strangest speedtrap in Baja, but only Bekki's 1609, and car #1601 had the decency to abide by the rules and pull over. As a result, their day ended early, and 2 perfectly good race cars were put to the hook. After the required paperwork with the proper authorities, the matter was brought to a close, but for a less than thrilled Miss F, the 2000 Baja 500 will remain a sore point for some time to come. Attrition took its toll in a big way, decimating the 220+ strong class to a shell of its former self by race's end, and there are stories to be told - but not yet. We'll keep you hanging just a little longer while we get home, get some sleep, enjoy a Tecate or two, and enjoy looking at some pretty slick pix. Don't worry, you're gonna' see 'em soon!
