KTM Expands GNCC Contingency Payout to $280,800 for 2010 Season

Morgantown, W.Va. (February 10, 2010) - Longtime Grand National Cross Country Series supporter KTM has more than doubled their 2009 contingency payout for the 2010 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country season. Last year, KTM offered up $136,750 in contingency for bike and ATV classes but for 2010, KTM is offering $280,800.

"KTM understands that economic times are tough and riders can use every bit of help to keep their bikes properly maintained for race day," remarked FMF/KTM Team Manager Antti Kallonen. "That is why KTM has decided to increase the contingency payouts in the off-road series while also expanding the amount of motocross events on the schedule. We are excited about this news and hope that the KTM riders will be equally pleased."

For ATVs, KTM is offering $3,000 for the XC1 Pro winner, followed by $1,500 for second, and $750 for third for all 13 rounds. For the XC2 Pro class winner $1,500 will be awarded, followed by $800 for second and $400 for third. KTM is also paying out in a variety of amateur classes.

For Bikes, KTM is offering series end bonuses for a variety of Pro and amateur classes. The XC1 Pro overall winner will receive $5,000 followed by $3,000 for second and $2,000 for third. KTM pays series bonuses to the top 10 overall in the XC1 class.

A Series end bonus will be paid out to the top 5 in the XC2 Pro-Lites class. The XC2 overall champion will receive $3,000 followed by $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third.

KTM also pays series-end bonuses to the top 3 in several amateur classes.

The 2010 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series kicks off on February 27- March 2 as part of Daytona Bike Week at the Westgate River Ranch Resort in River Ranch, Florida, with the Parts Unlimited River Ranch GNCC. ATVs race on Sunday, February 28, and bikes race on Tuesday, March 2.
