Pro's don't use stock brake lines to race, why
should you? Well, you don't have to. Ride Engineering has got just
the products you have been looking for. They offer stainless brake
lines that are as functional as they are good looking. The stock
lines will expand when the brake fluid gets hot causing decreased
braking power. Honda doesn't have as much of a problem as Yamaha,
Suzuki, or Kawasaki due to Honda's patent on their brake line
routing. Ride Engineering's brake lines will not expand and help
cool the brake fluid faster than the stock lines. The SS lines also
provide a more powerful and progressive feel to the brakes. This
means more confidence in your brakes as well as faster lap
times.
The 2002-2003 CR's have a problem with their rear
brakes overheating causing the fluid to boil and deteriorate the
seals on the piston inside the rear master cylinder. This can lead
to brake fade and ultimately no brakes at all if you drag your
brakes a lot.The rear brake line can also
be purchased with a machined billet rear brake reservoir extension.
This will increase the amount of brake fluid that the rear master
cylinder holds. The result is less brake fade and a more reliable
brake. With the added volume of brake fluid it will take longer for
all of the brake fluid to reach the boiling point because there is
simply more fluid to heat.
Simply put, if
you want stronger and more trouble free brakes then I recommend you
buy these. With the low price tag and high quality components you
simply cannot beat these products. Hey, if Kyle Lewis uses these
products they are good enough for me.
Hot Start Lever
If you don't like the stock position of your hot
start lever, you are not alone. Although you have a vast selection
of aftermarket levers to choose from, absolutely none of them stand
out from the crowd as much as the Ride Engineering unit.
This hot start lever re-locates the lever to the
right side of the bars. The unit mounts to the front master
cylinder perch. The lever is located by the throttle cables which
keeps it out the way. I have banged my knee on other hot start
levers that locate the lever on the bottom of the perch.
I even had
my bike "kick back" when I tried to start it and it launched my
knee right into the hot start lever and that hurts beyond what
words can describe, if you know what I mean. This is not possible with the Ride Engineering unit. On top of
the brilliant design and location of the lever, it actually
encourages you to take your hand off of the throttle when using the
lever, which is good because the proper procedure for hot starting
does not include giving the bike any gas. In fact, giving it gas
will only make it harder to start. Some
riders may have some problems getting the cable to reach the lever
properly; re-routing the cable should fix the problem. If you
cannot get it to reach or don't want to mess with re-routing then
Ride Engineering offers a longer replacement cable.
