There’s plenty of excitement surrounding the truck market right now with tons of new vehicles hitting dealerships and more new things on the horizon. Of all the new trucks coming in 2015 and 2016, one of the most talked-about vehicles has been the 2016 Nissan Titan, which was recently spotted sporting its own Zebra-inspired Halloween costume.

The next-generation Titan has been in development for some time now, and the biggest reason it has made headline is because of the 5.0L V8 Cummins turbo diesel that was designed for the 2016 model. Nissan hasn’t given firm details on the new diesel, but they have said the engine should have around 300 hp and roughly 550 lb-ft of torque, and we’ve also heard it will feature a two-stage turbocharger.

Ram jumped into the half-ton market first with its VM Motori 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel on the 1500, which provides solid power and torque in a fuel-efficient package. The next-gen Titan, however, will be bumping up the torque with its V8 Cummins to produce a truck that will likely more closely staddle the line between a light-duty 1500 and heavy-duty 2500 truck.

Aside from the Cummins, Nissan will also offer a gasoline 5.6L V8 as well. The 2016 Titan will be offered in crew cab, extended cab and regular cab configurations.

Up front, the grille opening on the new Titan looks quite a bit bigger than the current model, featuring three very large "cheese grater" cross bars. A pair of vertically stacked headlights are also easy to see, along with some chrome-capped, adjustable towing mirrors.

The diesel Titan will launch first, starting production in September of 2015. The gasoline model will follow in January of 2016.
