Lucas Oil Off-Road Round 6 from Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park

May. 20, 2013 By Josh Burns

The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series provided a little preview of the season finale this weekend when it hosted Rounds 5 & 6 from the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park. There are still quite a few weekends of racing on the schedule, but the series will return to Lake Elsinore in late October for the final weekend of racing in 2013. The point race is still very much up in the air this early in the season, but it’ll be interesting to see how things play out on the same track a few months down the road when championships are on the line.

The 1.1-mile custom-built track at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park challenges racers with a number of jumps, big sweeping turns, rhythm sections, a large tabletop jump on the back straight and more. Race fans were on their feet for the pro-class racing that headlined the final round of racing on Sunday, with some familiar short-course legends leading the action.

In the Pro 4 class Carl Renezeder continued his dominance by making a clean sweep over the weekend with his second win at Lake Elsinore for Round 6. Rob MacCachren stayed close to Renezeder for much of the race but was unable to find an opportunity to pass and had to settle for second. Greg Adler made his second podium of the weekend in the class by following up his second-place finish on Saturday with a third on Sunday.

In the Pro Lite class during Round 6, RJ Anderson found himself in a tough battle with Round 5 winner Sheldon Creed. Anderson earned the holeshot and managed to mostly stay out front in spite of a number of restarts, though Creed did overtake him and lead a few laps later in the race.

Sheldon Creed had to settle for second on Sunday, but he did earn the victory during Saturday's Round 5 racing.

But Anderson battled back to earn the checkered flag, while Creed followed his race win at Round 5 with a solid second place. Rounding out the podium at Round 6 was Bradley Morris in third.

In Pro Buggy Bradley Morris’ double duty paid off. After his third-place finish in Pro Lite he earned the victory in Pro Buggy by holding off Round 5 winner Steven Greinke. Dave Mason Jr. battled to earn third place at Round 6 to follow up his second-place finish a day earlier at Round 5.

Rob MacCachren stayed in front of Carl Renezeder with clean air for the entire Pro 2 race.

The Pro 2 race a battle similar to one in Pro 4 between MacCachren and Renezeder, but this time it was MacCachren who jumped out to the early lead and kept Renezeder at bay for the wire-to-wire win. Renezeder held his spot in second place even after the restart. The battle for third place wasn’t so clear cut, with Kyle LeDuc, Brian Deegan, Robby Woods, Jeremy McGrath and Greg Adler all vying for the final podium spot. In the end, Woods was able to navigate the chaos on a white-flag restart to earn third place.

The next race in the LOORRS will be from June 21-23 at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. For more information on the series, visit http://www.lucasoiloffroad.com/.
