Woods Wins Big Sky Hare Scramble on Husaberg

Aug. 24, 2010 By Press Release

BIG SKY, Mont. - Husaberg Factory rider Nathan Woods earned his first win aboard his Husaberg race machine at the 6th round of the AMA Western National Hare Scrambles event on the ski slopes of Lone Peak Mountain at the Big Sky Ski Resort.

Woods started off the 3-hour endurance race around 6th position and quickly began closing in on the top five riders. Rain the night before and the day of the race had made the rocky course very slick and proved to be one of the most technical races all season. Woods was able to keep his bike on two wheels through the majority of the race which allowed him to move into 2nd shortly before the first pit. At the pit stop, Woods was able to pass Brian Garrahan for the lead and never looked back. At one point Woods lead was up to five minutes on Garrahan.

Woods would finish the race in 3 hours and 18 minutes after 6 gruelling laps. His final finish time was approximately 2 minutes and 30 seconds over the 2nd place ride of Garrahan. “On the final lap, I came together with a lapper and we both crashed. After that, I became more cautious and backed off a little bit in order to finish the race in one piece and take home the win,” remarked Woods. “It feels great to put the Husaberg on the top step of the podium. We have been working really hard to develop the bike into a great race bike and I feel like we have made huge leaps and look forward to finishing on the podium more frequently this season.”

Woods next event will be the Glen Helen WORCS race coming up in two weeks. Woods is looking forward to finishing the WORCS events on the podium and then flying to Mexico to compete on the ISDE trophy team.
