Lafferty Wins AMA East National Hare Scramble Championship

Sep. 22, 2010 By Press Release
LYNNVILLE, Ind. - Husaberg Factory rider Mike Lafferty put his name in the record books once again as he clinched the 2010 AMA East National Hare Scrambles title over the weekend.

Lafferty has been using the East National Hare Scrambles Series to help him prepare for the 2010 AMA National Enduro Series of which he is an 8-time National Champion. “I decided to participate in this series earlier this year just to help with my training and keep me in racing mode between the breaks of the National Enduro Series. It has definitely paid off and I am happy that I was not only able to benefit fitness wise but that I was able to win a championship for Husaberg.”

At the start of Sunday’s event, Lafferty started 2nd behind his main title challenger Jason Greer. “It was dry and dusty, so on the first lap I backed off and let Jason pull out a little bit just to learn some lines and not chance crashing from poor vision,” commented Lafferty. On the second lap, Lafferty was able to move around Greer after Greer went off course and got tangled up in a banner. Once Lafferty made the pass for the lead he never looked back and went on to take the win by nearly five minutes.

With this Championship wrapped up, Lafferty will turn his focus to a strong finish in the National Enduro Series and the final few GNCC rounds.
