Geico-Endurocross-New-4-10-13Irvine, CA (May 20, 2013) – FMF KTM’s Mike Brown won his second X Games Enduro X Gold medal in Barcelona, Spain. Taddy Blazusiak, the multi time GEICO AMA EnduroCross champion pressured Brown for the win until a spectacular crash on the last lap took him out of contention for the win. The Polish KTM rider remounted in third position but was passed before the finish by Webb, who had crashed on the same log double earlier in the race. Blazusiak finished fourth with Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder close behind in fifth. Kyle Redmond, Gary Sutherlin, Bobby Prochnau, Alfredo Gomez and Taylor Robert rounded out the top ten.

X-Games-Best-Whip-Brazil-4-22-13Monster Energy’s Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, widely regarded as one of the most talented freestyle motocross riders in the sport, came into X Games Foz do Iquacu looking for his third consecutive gold medal in the Best Whip competition.

Unlike other sports in the X Games, Best Whip is judged by the fans who vote via Twitter for the winner in the competition, but despite his popularity, Stenberg knew he wasn’t going to have an easy time of it.

“I always come in wanting to win gold, but I also knew that some of the other guys, like Edgar [Torronteras] and Hanny [Josh Hansen] were killing it withtheir whips lately,” Stenberg said.

Geico-Endurocross-New-4-10-13Irvine, CA (April 22, 2013) – Taddy Blazusiak, the current GEICO AMA EnduroCross champion had to overcome a poor qualifying heat race and an extremely slippery track to win the first ever Global X Games Enduro X event, which was held in Foz Do Iquacu, Brazil. Cody Webb, runner up in the 2012 GEICO EnduroCross Championship showed that he is capable of challenging Blazusiak and leading when he washed out the front end to give up the lead. In fact, Webb and Blazusiak exchanged the lead several times in the first few laps. Webb recovered to finish second ahead of the UK’s David Knight, the multi time World Enduro and GNCC Champion, making it three nationalities on the podium.

“I don’t know how it looks on TV but I have never ridden something as hard as this track,” Blazusiak said after the finals. “It’s so slick … I’m super stoked on first place. I gave it all I had and I’m so pumped.”

Starting with CBS Sports Spectacular on Saturday at 1:30 PM (EST) the action kicks off with Round 10 of Lucas Oil Pro 4 Unlimited and Pro 2 Unlimited truck racing from Glen Helen in San Bernardino, CA.

Corona, CA – A broken foot isn’t going to stop factory Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder from claiming his first championship of 2012. The X Games medalist recently suffered a season-threatening crash at Glen Helen that caused him to sit out the Cahuilla Creek round of the World Off Road Championship Series (WORCS). But the Canadian is going to tough it out this weekend in Montana to claim the AMA West Hare Scrambles number one plate at the Kenda Big Sky XC presented by Klim.

“I had a scary get-off at Glen Helen,” Graffunder recalled. “I had a mid-air collision with another rider and crashed hard and basically smashed the ball of my foot. I had surgery on it a few weeks ago and just got the pins out last week.”

Irvine, CA – Bryan Roper is an Arizona native that has become a top five National Trials competitor over the past few years. Like many of the top EnduroCross racers, he is trying to make the transition from Trials, which means he is now thrown into head to head racing through some pretty gnarly obstacles. Roper is learning quickly and the nineteen year old is currently leading the MAVtv Junior EnduroCross Championship, which is a championship within a championship for riders 21 and under.

Ironically, the closest rider in the Junior Championship chase is fellow Arizona resident, Max Gerston. Gerston comes from an off-road and desert racing background so it is very interesting to see the contrasting styles of the two riders. Gerston is far more aggressive but the two are close in the points chase so it is difficult to argue which style is better. Oregon’s Keith Sweeten is another rider with a  Trials background and is currently third in the Junior Championship followed by Steward Baylor, the current GNCC XC2 Champion and National Enduro points leader that turned some heads at his first ever EnduroCross at the X Games. Jacob Argubright, one of the top desert racers is currently fifth.
