BITD-12-16-11When the 2013 Best In The Desert race season got underway at the BlueWater Resort & Casino Parker “425”, twenty-four of the world’s top Trick Truck drivers had signed up for the third annual Trick Truck Challenge. Each participating driver kicked in $6,000 with a guaranteed100% payback going towards the bonus prize money to be paid out to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place Trick Truck finishers in each of the six Best In The Desert races, plus a year-end bonus.

When the dust settled from the final race of the year at the recent Henderson “250”, Jason Voss claimed the 2013 Trick Truck Challenge title and the beautiful trophy that goes along with it. Jason also collected the largest share of the total bonus money paid, taking home $41,000 over the course of the year. Jason Voss had an incredible season, the kind that many racers can only dream about. In six races he captured two first place Trick Truck finishes, a second place, two thirds and one fourth. For the entire year, Jason never finished out of the bonus money pay out. Other top drivers that took home Trick Truck Challenge bonus money over the year included Rob MacCachren with $30,000, TJ Flores with $19,000, Gary Weyhrich with $14,000, Steve Olliges and Mark Weyhrich with $10,000 each, and Steve Strobel and Jesse Jones with $6,000 each.

Casey Folks, director of Best in the Desert, said, “This was our third running of the awesome Trick Truck Challenge, and I congratulate all the drivers on a great year.” He went on to say that he expects 2014 to be a banner year for Best In The Desert and the Trick Truck Challenge to become even bigger. The 2014 season is just around the corner, beginning with the legendary BlueWater Resort & Casino Parker “425” in Parker, AZ, January 31st thru February 2nd as “The Legend Lives On” along the beautiful Colorado River.

Best In The Desert, the world’s largest off-road desert racing organization, today reported that a ground-breaking record number of Trick Trucks for any off road race – 45, have entered the upcoming legendary Blue Water Resort and Casino Parker “425”. The Parker race has been around for decades, but never have so many unlimited trucks entered this race, or ay off-road race. More than $20 million dollars in the highest performing 800+ horsepower Trick Trucks will be leaving the line Saturday morning, February 2nd.

Casey Folks, director of Best In The Desert, announced that 179 vehicles, and 600 extremely excited racers turned out for the Pre Fun Run last Sunday. Casey Folks said, “The Fun Run was well attended by some of the biggest names in off-road racing, and the big guns from the BLM. June Shoemaker – Chief for Renewable Resources and Planning out of the BLM Arizona State Office, Jayson Barangan – Assistant Field Manager, and Kim Liebhauser – Field Manager from the Bureau of Land Management along for the ride. They were ecstatic at how well it ran, how professional the racers were, and they are as fired up to see the race take off as I am!”  He continued, “I am also proud to announce that Ford Motor Company, our great sponsor, is bringing out a huge 80’ trailer filled with the latest in Performance Parts, racing gear, new offerings from FORD, and the chance to sign up to win a brand new Mustang. It will be on display in contingency at the Blue Water Casino parking lot.”

Adam Householder just keeps getting faster and faster.  After starting 28th off the line at Best In The Desert’s (BITD) Silver State 300 earlier this season, Householder shocked the competition and brought home his first Trick Truck win (BITD’s equivalent of SCORE Trophy Trucks).  Since that time Householder has consistently put the No. 24 Householder Motorsports Ford near the top of the standings in both BITD and SCORE International; the only driver to earn Top Five season standings in the most elite class of each of these series.

The final BITD race of the season, the TransWest Ford Henderson 250 saw Adam qualify 18th overall (8th in Trick Truck), but he has already proven that he does not need clean air in order to finish on top.  “I don’t let qualifying dictate my race performance,” Householder commented after the race.  “Starting in back takes the pressure off, and thanks to our BFGoodrich Tires we were able to pass a lot of teams changing flats.”  Householder drove the entire race, with Russell Hampton navigating and Adam’s father and veteran racer Terry Householder orchestrating logistics.

Householder was able to make time on the competition in the No. 24 Householder Motorsports Ford to finish first in Class 1400 (Trick Truck).  In doing so, he was the only Trick Truck driver to win two BITD races this season.  “We came into the season looking for Top 5 finishes, so to win two races is unbelievable,” the always humble Householder admitted.  “Next season our expectations are going to be a lot higher, we have proven we have what it takes to win.”

This was a win not just for Householder Motorsports, but what they represent in each and every one of us.  Passion, hard work, and perseverance can overcome even the largest competitors’ budgets.  Look out for Householder Motorsports next season, and follow the latest race updates on Twitter @HouseholderRace.  If you are interested in sponsoring a proven race program that produces results contact Terry Householder at 714-920-0301.

Fort Mill, SC - “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin entered the final race of the 2011 Best In The Desert (BITD) Series with one goal, to win the Trick Truck championship. And he did just that. Following a strenuous Henderson 250 full of ups and downs, Baldwin edged out Steve Strobel for the championship. The Trick Truck championship marks his second in as many years.

Dr. Macrae Glass walked away with the 2011 BITD Class 8 championship, marking back-to-back championships for this Team GT driver as well.

“Everyone at General Tire is excited about our second straight Trick Truck championship with Baldwin Motorsports,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing, General Tire. “We were also fortunate enough to have Macrae Glass capture the Class 8 championship which is fantastic. We’re extremely proud to have General Tire on top of the podium for two straight years in two different classes.”
