Dunlop-12-7-11Buffalo, NY: The Summer X Games in Los Angles, California, always deliver hours of exciting viewing to millions of extreme sports fans, and the competition in 2013 seemed better than ever. Dunlop athletes fared very well; in the eight Moto X categories, Dunlop-sponsored riders scored 23 of 24 podium positions.

In the dry, hard-packed track conditions that made for tricky riding in many of the final events, many of the freestyle and MX riders choose Dunlop’s Geomax® MX71™ tires for the slippery conditions.

(July 16, 2013) – Premium synthetic lubricant manufacturer, Royal Purple, today announced “Monster” Mike Schultz as the subject of its second Outperformer mini-documentary series for the 2013 season. Schultz, a championship racer with an impressive list of wins under his belt, is a pioneer in the field of adaptive action sports.

husqvarna_x-games-brazil_graffunder-4-24-13Corona, CA – Fred Andrews Racing (FAR) Husqvarna’s Andrew DeLong got back to his winning ways at the Big Buck GNCC in Union, South Carolina, taking another big victory in the XC2 class. DeLong checked out from the field, extending his championship lead to over 20 points after only four rounds! Another Husqvarna rider was hard at work over the weekend, taking on the International X Games Enduro X. Factory Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder made the trek to Foz do Iguacu, Brazil where he proudly placed his TXC310R in the top-10 with a seventh place finish at the inaugural event.

Andrew DeLong and the Fred Andrews Racing Husqvarna team headed to the Big Buck GNCC in search of another win. DeLong started the season with a win streak, but was stunted at round three by a hard crash. AD still managed to limp to a fourth-place finish to retain the points lead, but made a prompt return to the top of the podium in South Carolina.

Hurricane Mills, TN – Factory FMF/KTM rider Maria Forsberg earned her thirteenth straight win at the final round of the GNCC Series held at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. Her win at the ranch marked the end to a perfect GNCC season.

Forsberg has already set multiple records this year. Forsberg won gold at Women’s EnduroX for the second straight year at the summer X-Games. She then went on to wrap up her GNCC championship the following weekend four rounds early. Later in the season she would become the first female rider to overall the morning class in the GNCC Series. And after thirteen straight wins, she ended her season with a perfect score.

The talented factory rider has set the benchmark again for fellow women racers with the completion of the perfect season. However, her season is not done. Forsberg will head to Las Vegas, NV in mid-November to compete in the final round of the AMA EnduroCross Series where she currently leads the EnduroCross Women’s point standings. A top three finish at that event would secure another championship for Forsberg who is well on her way to a perfect year.

Corona, CA – It’s time again for Summer X Games and the world’s best off-road motorcycle racers are ramping up for the Moto X Enduro X event. The action heats up Sunday, July 1st, when Husqvarna Motorcycles enters the STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles with a factory backed team featuring four of the top world-class extreme racers from four different countries, each hopeful of returning home with an X Games medal.

Husqvarna Motorcycles North America’s Cory Graffunder and Kyle Redmond will be joined by CH Racing’s Alex Salvini and extreme enduro ace Andreas Lettenbichler aka “Letti” for the race. Southern California native Redmond represents the American contingent alongside Graffunder of Canada. Both are AMA EnduroCross series regulars and 2012 marks the second year that the thrilling national series has included X Games on its calendar. Husqvarna European based factory riders Salvini and Lettenbichler will travel from Italy and Germany, respectively, making for quite a diverse international factory tour de force.

“It’s very exciting for Husqvarna to return to X Games with four such outstanding riders,” said HMNA Product and Racing Manager Derek Sorenson. “We had a presence at the 2011 X Games but unfortunately our EnduroCross star, Cory Graffunder, was out with injury. Cory will come out strong this Sunday along with three Husqvarna teammates who are totally capable of reaching the main event – and the podium.”

LOS ANGELES (July 27, 2011) — BFGoodrich® Tires, an official sponsor of Summer X Games 17, will upgrade the experiences for both racers and fans at the upcoming event July 28-31, 2011. Not only will rally teams and drivers be challenged with a new race course leading them through the streets of downtown Los Angeles, but fans can win unique prizes — including a trip to the Skip Barber Racing School — and check out the SCORE Baja 500-winning race truck and a special tire carving at the BFGoodrich Tires booth at X Fest.

BFGoodrich Tires has established itself as a dominant force in X Games rally competition and has the opportunity to add two more rally gold medals to its X Games trophy case — one in the Rally Car Racing competition and one in the RallyCross competition. Since 2006, BFGoodrich-shod race cars have won 17 of the 20 medals awarded, including five of six gold medals: Travis Pastrana (Subaru) won gold in 2006 and 2008; Kenny Brack (Ford) won gold in 2009; and Tanner Foust (Ford) won two golds in 2010.

Los Angeles, CA – Off-road racers are getting ready to set foot on the largest stage their sport has ever seen – ESPN’s Summer X Games! The top extreme off-roaders in the world – who are used to competing out of the back of their vans in remote woods, mountains and deserts – will be rolling into the STAPLES Center in Downtown Los Angeles where the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series presented by Lucas Oil will kick off, and off-road motorcycle racing will make its grand X Games debut!

“This is huge!” exclaimed Zip-Ty Husqvarna’s Ty Davis. “Being on the X Games is almost like making the 6:00 o’clock news. Everyone watches X Games! I’m glad to see EnduroCross become a part of it. Fans are going to definitely get something to watch.”

“Moto X” racing made its way into ESPN’s X Games a few years ago, but for the first time ever, off-road racers will have a crack at the big stage. Rather than the slick style and big hits of Supercross that fans are accustomed to seeing, they will see riders wildly traversing boulders, tackling logs, splashing through water-crossings and scaling earth mover tires.

“Off-road has never gotten the clout that motocross or Supercross has,” Davis commented. As one of the few riders in history to earn a Supercross championship as well as multiple national off-road championships, Davis has insight on the stark differences between the two disciplines of racing. “Obviously it’s hard to capture the experience of off-road racing for mainstream fans, but bringing it into a stadium is great! You can let the crowd see how gnarly it all really is.”

Monster Energy Team Green’s Jason Smigel agrees. “It’s pretty neat to see off-road come into the main stream. It’s a huge stage for our guys to showcase their talents. Not a lot of people get a chance to go out to the desert or go into the woods, so it’s exciting for them to bring it all into a stadium in front of a large crowd.”

Teams such as Zip-Ty Husqvarna and Monster Energy Kawasaki are not only preparing for the excitement of X Games, but for the start of one of the most prestigious off-road championships of the year. “It’s X Games, but it’s a points-paying round of EnduroCross. So it’s our job as a team to put the fact that it’s X Games aside for a little bit and just get ready for our season.”

Still, for some, such as Kawasaki’s Destry Abbott, the X Games event presents an opportunity of a lifetime. “I’m not going for the championship because I don’t get to do the whole series. But I really want to do good at X Games and put in good results. I’m pretty happy with my career and what I’ve accomplished, but I think if I got a medal at X Games, that would be my biggest accomplishment, as far as racing goes.”
