Washington, DC – The U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 507 (S. Res. 507) designating July 8, 2016 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.” The Resolution was requested by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils. The date marks the seventh commemoration in what has become an annual event to celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.
S. Res. 507 was sponsored by Congressional Automotive Performance and Motorsports Caucus Co-Chairs Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) and Senator Jon Tester (D-MT). The Senators are strong advocates for the automotive hobby in Washington, D.C. The Caucus is an informal, non-partisan member organization that pays tribute to America’s ever growing love affair with the car and motorsports.
DIAMOND BAR, CA – Results of the 2016 SEMA Board of Directors election are in, with Chris Douglas from COMP Performance Group, Kyle Fickler of Aeromotive Inc. and Les Rudd from Bob Cook Sales elected to serve on the board. While Fickler is a current SEMA Board member who was re-elected onto the group, Douglas and Rudd will join as the newest members of the group.

Every year for the past 49, Tierra Del Sol (TDS) Safari has boasted being one of the biggest Jeep and 4×4 events in Southern California. Bill Caswell decided he needed a break from the adult life. He left his banking job and decided to go racing. In recent years he has tackled rally racing and other forms of car racing, but now he plans to fulfill a dream of competing in the 2010 SCORE Baja 1000. Caswell and crew actually set up shop at Miller Electric’s booth at the 2010 SEMA Show building his signature, early-90s BMW into a Baja-capable race vehicle to compete at the 1000.
The plan of attack was a four-day build at SEMA was this:

Truck cap and tonneau cover manufacturer A.R.E. built a unique truck for the 2010 SEMA Show paying tribute to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. With its facilities in Massillon, Ohio, being just 10 or so miles away from the Pro Football HOF in Canton, Ohio, A.R.E. decided to customize a 2011 F-150 tying in all of the intricacies of the HOF into the truck. Before the truck was fully built, A.R.E.’s Director of Marketing Bryan Baker explained the idea of the truck.
