SCORE-Rosarito-Desert-Challenge-Logo-8-12-16ROSARITO BEACH, Mexico — With a storied legacy of more than four decades as the world’s foremost desert racing organization, SCORE International launches something new this week with a tantalizing taste of something old at the history-making, internationally-televised Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge in Rosarito Beach, Mexico.

Having held nearly 150 races in Mexico in the last 40-plus years, this will be the first time that SCORE has held a race in Rosarito Beach. SCORE Baja races have been held numerous times in Ensenada and San Felipe, several times in La Paz, a few times in Mexicali, Santo Tomas, Ojos Negros and Cabo San Lucas, twice in Tijuana and once in Loreto. But never before this year has one bel held in Rosarito Beach.

SCORE-Rosarito-Desert-Challenge-Logo-8-12-16ROSARITO BEACH, Mexico — Enjoying rare respites from his consuming life as an accomplished Americna businessman and film producer, Gary Magness has drawn the first starting position in the featured SCORE Trophy Truck division for next week’s internationally-televised Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge.

Born in Bozeman, Mont., raised in Texas, Magness, who lives and conducts much of his business out of Denver, drives his No. 45 Mango Racing Ford F-150 in SCORE Trophy Truck, the marquee SCORE racing division for high-tech, 850-horsepower unlimited production trucks. At the midway point in the SCORE season, Magness is third in the season point standings in SCORE Trophy Truck.

SCORE-Rosarito-Desert-Challenge-Logo-8-12-16ROSARITO BEACH, Mexico — With less than two weeks before the start of something spectacularly new for SCORE desert racers, this week’s pre-race schedule includes the drawing for starting positions within each class as well as pre-running on both days this weekend.

The internationally-televised Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge, Round 3 of the four-race 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship, will be held next Thursday to Sunday (Sept. 15-18) in Mexico’s Baja California. Starting and finishing just south of Rosarito Beach, the colorful resort area on the Pacific Ocean located just 19 miles from the U.S. Border south of San Diego, it marks the first time in its storied history that SCORE International has held a race in the Rosarito Beach area.

SCORE-Rosarito-Desert-Challenge-Logo-8-12-16ROSARITO, Mexico — With a growing number of entries continuing to be processed, SCORE has announced some additional specifics regarding the loop race course to be used for next month’s internationally-televised Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge.

Round 3 of the four-race 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship will be held Sept. 14-18 in Mexico’s Baja California Norte, starting and finishing just south of Rosarito, the colorful resort area on the Pacific Ocean, just 19 miles from the U.S. Border south of San Diego.

Many of the world’s best desert racers, competing in classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads will be in action at this year’s Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge.
