Stadium-Super-Trucks-Crandon-8-31-12Charlotte, N.C. (March 28, 2013) – Pro Comp is proud to announce its partnership with Robby Gordon OFF-ROAD’s Stadium SUPER Trucks (SST), becoming the second tire manufacturer to sign for the 2013 Inaugural season of thrilling, stadium-style off-road racing.

Robby Gordon OFF-ROAD’s Stadium SUPER Trucks is a new breed of off-road featuring live motorsports, bringing back what was once the concept of legendary racer Mickey Thompson. Robby Gordon’s new concept of Stadium racing involves high-powered off-road trucks racing on challenging dirt tracks consisting of huge jumps, crossovers, and tight corners. The 2013 season will be comprised of 12 events providing action in state of the art stadiums across the United States and one to be named International event.

CHARLOTTE, NC – Since 1975, America’s version of the Monaco Grand Prix – the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach – has seen legendary drivers in Formula 1, CART/Champ Car and IndyCar create some of the greatest moments in motorsports history.

On April 21, history will be made once again with an unprecedented road course demonstration race by Robby Gordon OFF-ROAD Stadium SUPER Trucks™, which will run just prior to Sunday’s IZOD IndyCar Series main event.

It has been a long-time dream of Gordon’s to personally redevelop and bring back this unique form of off-road stadium racing that was immensely popular more than 20 years ago – known then as the Mickey Thompson Off-Road Championship.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Robby Gordon OFF-ROAD Stadium SUPER Trucks™ announced today the addition of the lightning-quick SUPER Buggy class to the Inaugural 2013 season. The SUPER Buggy is an off-road racing class similar to one of the popular Super 1600 Buggies that used to compete in Mickey Thompson’s Off-Road Racing Series more than 25 years ago.

The eagerly anticipated SUPER Buggy debuts April 6 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. and will also feature racing from BIGFOOT® Monster Trucks as well as the Stadium SUPER Trucks, the main feature of the series.

“The Super 1600 buggies is where a lot of successful racers started their careers,” said Series President, Robby Gordon. “It’s a really popular class, and I’m hoping our SUPER Buggies can launch some of these guys careers like it did for myself, Bob Gordon, Jerry Whelchel, Marty Coyne, Marty Hart, Marty Tripes, Bob Hannah, Frank Arciero Jr. and more. With our series showcased in the best venues across the country, there’s no other place where this class can race and get this type of exposure. Guys will race for $5,000 going to the winner with second place earning $2,500 and third getting $1,500, all while being televised on NBC. Adding another competitive class to SST will bring great drivers and teams that will make for exciting racing that fans will really enjoy.”

Anyone who does not make time to check out one of these races this season is missing out. It’s going to be wild,” commented Sean Sermini on his new position with SST.

Charlotte, N.C. – Robby Gordon OFF-ROAD’s Stadium SUPER Trucks, which will begin its inaugural season of thrilling, stadium style off-road racing on April 6 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. announced this week that production of these one-of-a-kind race vehicles is ahead of schedule.

“We have been working long hours for months, and there will be 30 complete trucks ready to compete at Phoenix. The craftsmanship and build of the Stadium SUPER Truck is something we take enormous pride in at Robby Gordon OFF-ROAD,” said Shane Bourgeois, lead mechanic.

Bourgeois added that 22 chassis are through production at Robby Gordon OFF-ROAD’s state of the art, 100,000 square foot facility in Charlotte, NC. Each truck is being constructed to a design spec exclusive to Stadium SUPER Trucks.

Fiambalá, Argentina – The organization has again decided to cancel the remaining kilometers of Stage 11 due to flash flooding in the area. As a result, Robby Gordon was declared the winner since he was the leader at Checkpoint 1, where the organization decided to red flag the race.

“We won the stage, so today was a good special for us. It could have been a great special for us. I am sure we could have beat most of the cars by 30 minutes or more. It is a shame they had to cancel it because of weather since we would have climbed the standings today. The flooding was not too bad when we got to it; it was only about a foot or two high. Not a big deal, I mean I thought this was the Dakar, the toughest race in the world…it seems like they have lost sight of that this year,” commented a slightly disappointed Gordon even though he won the stage because he knew there was still more time to be gained on his competition.

Charlotte, N.C. – With the inaugural season of Robby Gordon OFF-ROAD’s Stadium SUPER Trucks to kick off in just four short months, series officials are pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for the season opener at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on April 6, as well as the April 21st event in conjunction with the IZOD Indy Car Series Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and the third event on April 27 at the historic Los Angeles Coliseum in Los Angeles, Calif.

“I’m so excited about Stadium SUPER Trucks, BIGFOOT Monster Trucks, quads, and side-by-sides racing in stadiums again. It’s been a dream of mine for a long time to be able to put this package together, to take off-road racing to the next level. Trucks have been running and testing all year long, the videos on stadiumsupertrucks.com are awesome and we are building a lot of buzz for the series. It’s exciting to announce that tickets for the first three events will be on sale this weekend just in time for holidays” explained Stadium SUPER Trucks Founder and President Robby Gordon.

Charlotte, N.C. (June 3, 2011) – Robby Gordon will return to his desert roots in SCORE International Off-Road Racing competition this weekend, June 3-5, 2011, in search of his fifth official class title in the Baja 500.  Gordon will compete behind the wheel of the No. 77 SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires HUMMER prepared by Robby Gordon Off-Road rather than his trophy truck.  Gordon will take the green flag with the rest of the trophy truck class at approximately 10:00 a.m. local time from Ensenada, Mexico.

The 43rd Tecate SCORE Baja 500 Desert Race is expected to attract more than 250 entries from 30 states and seven countries (U.S., Mexico, Canada, Finland, Germany, Guatemala, and Japan).  Competitors will begin their adventure in downtown Ensenada, and then travel in a clockwise direction through a wide variety of terrain on a tight, technical course.  This year’s rugged course is very similar to course utilized over the last three years, but has been expanded nearly 15 miles to reach a total distance of 452.84-miles and will vary from previous courses due to natural weather-related changes.  All competitors will have a 23 hour time limit to complete the course, with the fastest vehicles expected to cross the finish line in approximately nine hours.

Competitors will be required to stop at four physical check points along the course, and pass through 36 virtual checkpoints.  The four physical check points are located at Santa Catarina, south of Borrego, northwest of Colonet and southwest of Ojos Negros.

“I can’t wait to get back to racing in the SCORE International Off-Road Racing series,” commented Robby Gordon.  “The guys always do a really great job preparing the SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires race vehicle and I’m certain that this race will be no different.  The Baja 500 has always been one of my favorite events.  I love the culture and the competition of the event—it’s a very grueling race where just finishing is an accomplishment.  There is nothing in the world like off-road racing and I’m excited to get back to that atmosphere and to represent SPEED Energy, Toyo Tires, and all of my other sponsors at the Baja 500.  It should be a lot of fun.”
