For 2014, the Suzuki RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 feature updated ECM ignition programs that improve starting, as well as race-inspired Champion Yellow-and-black graphics to best fit each bike’s high-performance character. These upgrades show Suzuki’s continued commitment to the already-strong performance of its RM-Z450 and RM-Z250, facts proven in part by Cycle World magazine’s repeat acknowledgement of the RM-Z450 as Best Motocrosser in 2011 and 2012. And in 2013, both the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 was chosen by Transworld MX as their bikes of the year. The RM-Z450 was also selected as the class-leader by RacerX.

Stewart-Hangtown-5-23-13Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s James Stewart celebrated two stunning holeshots and a solid third-place overall result at the season-opening round of the 2013 AMA Pro Motocross Championships at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento, California, on Saturday.

After missing the final three rounds of AMA/ FIM World Supercross series due to injury, Stewart returned to racing with a vengeance over the weekend, demonstrating tremendous speed, discipline and consistency and racing two very smart motos: In both 30-minute races, he took the holeshot on his Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 and got out-front immediately. In the first moto, he led briefly before slotting comfortably into third. In the second moto, he stepped it up and led the first five laps before again finishing third. The two combined results handed the Yoshimura Suzuki rider third-place overall.

James-Stewart-Motocross-Preview-5-13-13CHINO, CA – Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s James Stewart announced today that he is healthy and healed, and eagerly looking forward to next weekend’s action-packed kick-off of the 2013 AMA Pro Motocross season at Hangtown in Sacramento, CA. Although Stewart opted out of the last three AMA/FIM Supercross rounds when he tweaked his already-injured wrist at the Minneapolis race, the Yoshimura Suzuki rider still finished in the top 10 in the overall championship points. Since then, Stewart took some much needed time off to recover and came back with a vengeance, focusing his considerable efforts on training and testing on the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450.

“After Minneapolis when I hurt my wrist again, it was a struggle,” admitted Stewart. “With trying to rehab my wrist, I decided to take the last couple of rounds off and be as close to 100 percent as possible for Motocross. Even though Supercross didn’t go the way I had planned, I fell in love with my Yoshimura Suzuki team and I had a great time. We had some ups and downs, but we also had some great moments, whether that was winning or just accomplishing a goal together as a team. I was definitely bummed to sit out, but that gave me a chance to take a break, rehab my wrist and get ready for Hangtown. Last year, we came into the series and I only had a few days on the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 and now I’ve had a few weeks. I love racing Motocross, it’s got a more relaxed family-oriented atmosphere, there’s more time to focus on bike set-up and the racing is really fun. I’m looking forward to Hangtown and to the whole season.”

BREA, Calif. – American Suzuki is pleased to congratulate Rockstar Energy Racing on its first 450SX class win this past weekend at the opening round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season in Anaheim, California. Rockstar Energy Racing rider Davi Millsaps set the tone early by coming out strong on his 2013 RM-Z450 and winning his heat race.

Millsaps then repeated his performance in the main event after grabbing the holeshot against what has been considered the most competitive Supercross field in recent years. Millsaps led the majority of the race, but closed the show with a dramatic last-lap pass over Honda’s Trey Canard.

The RM-Z250 features a redesigned chassis and suspension, including the all-new Showa Separate Function front Forks (SFF), which separates the spring and damping functions. With reduced friction, increased absorption performance and lighter weight, the Showa SFF provides remarkably smooth performance over a variety of tracks. The Showa SFF also offers fully adjustable spring preload.

Team Yoshimura Suzuki Racing’s Brett Metcalfe had plenty to celebrate after round three of the 2012 AMA Pro Motocross Championships at the Thunder Valley National in Lakewood on Saturday as team mate James Stewart crashed and failed to score after injuring his wrist.

Metcalfe raced his 2012 Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 to a solid fifth-place overall, which included a podium finish in the first moto, but Stewart crashed while leading the first moto after a lapse of concentration when an individual crossed the track in front of him.

To say that Stewart suffered bad luck would be an understatement of epic proportions: Having won the first four motos of the season, he came into the Colorado event ready to race and he qualified fastest. In the first 450 moto, Stewart got a decent start and charged ahead on his Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 to take the lead, but as he attempted to negotiate one of the fastest sections of the course, he unexpectedly encountered a person walking across the track. Immediately distracted, Stewart went down hard and injured his wrist and, hoping to minimise the damage, he did not race the second moto.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart raced his RM-Z450 to victory in both 450 motos to take the overall win in round one of the AMA Motocross Championship at Hangtown in Sacramento, California at the weekend.

In his inaugural race on the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 – and returning to the series after four years absence – Stewart was nothing short of flawless: The first moto saw him get a great start and take the lead on the first lap and from there, he slowly but surely created a gap and led all laps to take the win. In the second moto, Stewart got shuffled around a bit on the start but quickly made short shrift of the competition. Taking the lead, he rode a calculated, efficient race and again gapped the field while remaining in his comfort zone. Anything but victory was simply out of the question.

“I couldn’t ask for anything better,” said Stewart. “The Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 was really fast and consistent. In the first moto I got a great start and I was in the lead on the first lap. I rode my own race, and got a good gap and was able to win that one. In the second moto, I had to work for it. I had to come around some guys, then I was able to stay there and keep the pace. As the day went on, the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 was just better and better and better. I have to give it up to the team for all their hard work. I don’t want to get over-confident, but to start off like this – knowing this is one of my worst tracks – and know we can keep building, makes it so good.”

Clement Desalle took his factory Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1 RM-Z450 to second position at Guadalajara for the first ever Grand Prix of Mexico on Sunday.

The fourth round of 16 in the FIM Motocross World Championship was played out in 30 degree temperatures and across a track that was tricky through the mixture of loose terrain and hard-pack. Some 25,000 spectators turned out at the Nico España circuit and were able to see Desalle engage in two fantastic MX1 motos where he fought repeatedly for the lead and was denied the top step of the podium by just one point.

Desalle and team-mate Tanel Leok were both initially sceptical of the racing surface on Saturday and the dusty conditions and both decided to abstain from competing in the Qualification heat, which meant they entered the gate 14th and 18th respectively. The track was extensively watered throughout Saturday night and also Sunday morning and was a rough and gnarly prospect for the two 35 minute and two lap motos.

Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki celebrated a podium finish at the inaugural running of the Monster Energy Cup Supercross at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday as Brett Metcalfe raced his Yoshimura-equipped Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 to third overall.

This new stand-alone Supercross race capped off the 2011 season and incorporated both Motocross and Supercross styles in the lengthy track as well as the racing format. The hybrid track was the longest Supercross track ever built, and the format included Supercross heat races and main events, but the scoring was all Motocross: three 10-lap Open Class main events combined to provide riders with one overall best score.

“This was a really exciting race,” said Metcalfe. “The whole Rockstar Makita Suzuki team worked great. It was really awesome to see the bike become better and better over the course of one day and seeing the team making all these changes in one race was incredible. We had a few practice sessions, and I was feeling pretty comfortable. The track was different than what I’m used to, so it was a little challenging at first. But by race time that night, I was ready to go.”

The Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider started the night on a positive note by putting in an impressive ride in the first heat race. He got a great start on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450, led all the laps before making a small mistake at the end of the heat and finishing second. In the three main events, Metcalf continued to ride aggressively and focused races, finishing fourth in the first main, third in the second main and third in the final main. All of these results combined to hand Metcalf an impressive third-place finish overall.

“All through the heat race, I led every lap until the last lap,” said Metcalfe. “Then I spun out and lost a position. But I felt good going into the main events. I knew to do well and get up on the podium it would be key to get good starts. I was able to get three pretty good starts and really come out of the first corner in a good position each time. The Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 was unreal out there; it worked awesome for me and I’m happy with third overall. Now we have the off-season to prepare for Supercross next year. We learned a lot this weekend that we can put to use in testing and come out ready next year.”

Metcalfe and the Yoshimura Suzuki team will return for the start of the 2012 AMA Supercross season on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.

Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki finished off the season strong at the 12th and final round of the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross Championship held in Pala, California on Saturday as 2010 AMA Pro Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey and team mate Brett Metcalfe powered their Yoshimura-equipped Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450s to a first and fourth-place finish overall respectively.

In the first moto, Dungey got pushed out on the start and had to work his way up from 10th on the first lap. He quickly worked his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 up to third by lap six and pushed hard until the end, passing for second on the 13th lap and ended up crossing the line in second. After another tough start in moto two, Dungey again worked his way up to third by the halfway point. The Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider put his head down and used the awesome power of his RM-Z to chase down the leader and make the pass in the closing stages to take the chequered flag for the moto win and the overall win for the day. The 2010 AMA Pro Motocross Champion finished off the season a close second to the top in championship points, amassing a total of six moto wins, 16 podiums and four overall wins.
