San Clemente, CA – Casey Currie tore in to Cycle Ranch in Texas, ready to charge in his Monster Energy General Tire Nissan, and ready to defend his 2010 title in the PRO Light class. After a high-energy weekend of top PRO Light drivers chomping at the bit for the Championship, Casey takes 4th in Saturday’s race, and ends an intense battle for the 2nd place podium spot on Sunday. Casey Currie proudly takes home 3rd place overall in the 2011 Championship and 7th in the Traxxas PRO Light Cup Race.

Saturday and Sunday’s leaders were neck and neck; giving the fans the intense short-course action they came to see. Casey would move up to cross the finish line in 3rd place on Saturday, but after reviewing the lap counter, CJ was given the 3rd place position, putting Casey in 4th for the day.

“We had a great race truck all day, and starting on the 3rd row made it tough to get through traffic,” noted Casey, “but we have a great starting position for tomorrow’s race.”

Sunday’s race was an all-out fight, with Casey, RJ Anderson, and CJ Greaves battling in the top three. After a second full-course yellow regroups the field, Casey makes a huge acceleration on the back straight, and brings himself right on top of CJ and RJ battling for the lead. RJ Anderson is holding the lead with some bite in the turns, but CJ and Casey are out-braking him, keeping close behind. After taking the inside on Turn 5, and a little fender rubbing with CJ Greaves, Casey moves into 2nd. The two continue head to head, Casey taking turns on two wheels and hanging on to 2nd for the podium finish.

“That was a battle!” says Casey. “CJ and I battled the last couple of laps and I ended up in front of him. My truck was working well and I’m glad to finish 2nd today. We also wrapped up a podium spot on the year-end points which is a bonus for us.”

In the Traxxas PRO Light Cup Race on Sunday, Casey was on fire! Starting off on the inside, Casey took the lead leaving CJ Greaves and RJ Anderson going at it for 3rd. Losing body panels, Casey remained well out front, at times by 12-15 car lengths. With only 2 laps remaining, Casey rides the outter burm of the sharp infield turn, and suffers a right rear flat—CJ Greaves jumping into the lead. Casey continues to push the Monster Energy General Tire Nissan but the flat will force him to pit. Casey gets back on track with a fresh right rear to finish 7th in the PRO Light Traxxas Cup.

“Starting on the front row I got a great start and had a great race going,” Casey explains. “I had a big lead ’till lap 14 where I hit a burm wrong, giving me a flat tire. I tried to keep racing but there was nothing I could do. Two laps short—but next year we are coming for the money!!”

Always charging hard and moving forward fast, Casey is also finishing up his 2011 season in the Lucas Oil Off-Road series, where he currently holds 6th place in the Championship. Riverside, CA – RJ Anderson and Walker Evans Racing continue in their quest for multiple championships at the TORC and Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series’. First up was the TORC Series Rounds 3 &4 held in the famous Crandon Off Road Facility in Crandon, WI. Saturday’s Round 3 proved to be a challenge for RJ and team.  Despite a very strong V8 RAM engine tuned by Kevin Kroyer, a solid drive-train by Gear Works, and well tuned Walker Evans Racing Shocks RJ was unable to get the Walker Evans Racing / Polaris Industries / South Point Hotel V8 Pro-Lite on the box. RJ never having run the Crandon course before came out swinging, qualifying 5th in position and at one point doing well over 90mph in his Pro-Lite, something he had never done before leading up to this race. Unfortunately come race time the #37 would arrive to the gate late forcing TORC officials to put the #37 on the last row.  Despite the back row start RJ was already into 6th position by the first corner. It was there, the first corner of the first lap that the second place truck would lose control taking four trucks with him, RJ being one of them causing for a broken front coil carrier shock. RJ would limp his way around the track for a 12th place finish. Sunday would not allow for redemption as track conditions worsened with the weather causing TORC officials to call the round.  Redemption would have to wait until the team arrived in Utah for rounds 7 & 8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS).

Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT played host to LOORRS for rounds 7 & 8 and despite its inviting, spacious, and very well maintained outside appearance the track inside proved to be a brutal battlefield for competitors of all classes.  The clay based track began to harden unlike any other LOORRS track competitors have raced on causing for carnage in the field and long days & nights for crews in the pits.  While other teams were taking their beatings RJ Anderson and his Unlimited UTV were taking checkered flags and forwardly solidifying his points lead in the class.  With a big win in Saturdays Round 7 and a solid 3rd place finish on Sunday (Round 8) “Mr. Consistency” as he is known throughout the pits continued his championship quest battling back from an early season wreck that would have put most teams out of contention all together.  Now RJ and his Walker Evans Racing / Polaris Industries RZR XP900 is clicking and have found their groove.  Now equipped with a new Polaris power plant built by Kroyer Race Engines RJ and his Unlimited UTV look to be the favorite of many to win the championship in a sea of Kawasaki’s. When asked of his new found power and developing comfort with his 2011 Polaris RZR XP900 UTV RJ Anderson had this to say:

“….it took me a little longer than expected to get to a point where I felt I could not only just compete but actually win again in UTV and the early season wreck at Firebird only set us back further. Last season we were down on power against the V-Twin’s we were running against but this year we have a little something for them to go along with some of the best suspension in the class. My Holz Racing Chassis, Walker Evans Wheels & Shocks, and our new Kroyer power plant has really made this Polaris RZR XP900 a ton of fun to race. I look forward to more win’s this year hopefully culminating in an Unlimited UTV Championship.”

While the story would end right there for most RJ still had another 2 classes he was competing in. Despite unforeseen mechanical and racing related challenges in his new V8 Pro-Lite he continued his consistent performance in the fan favorite Super-Lite Championship class. RJ Anderson without a doubt is a favorite to win a championship in his first full season competing in the Super-Lite class. RJ, the Walker Evans Racing team and Speed Technologies who host the series have worked really hard to put a solid truck under RJ each and every round leaving RJ to focus on what he does best, RACE!  Saturday RJ was competing for the win but got caught in a battle for 2nd with a couple of competitors.  RJ would hold strong and take the podium in 2nd place.  Sunday would be more of the same except RJ would be racing in a back up truck that he had previously never driven or had prepped by his team. Despite the adversity  RJ once again was able to put the #37 Walker Evans Racing / So Cal Super Trucks / Polaris Industries Super-Lite on the podium in 2nd place further solidifying his lead in the Super-Lite Class.

Next up for Walker Evans Racing will be a long haul to Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC on July 22nd-23rd for Rounds 5 & 6 of the TORC Racing Series.  From there the team will travel back to Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA for Rounds 9 & 10 on August 6th-7th for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series where RJ Anderson will continue his quest for championships in multiple classes.

Reno, Nev. — RJ Anderson’s stranglehold on first place in the SuperLite Championship Series will be tested over two demanding races June 25 and 26, as the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series rolls into the Miller Motorsports Park outside of Salt Lake City, Utah to unleash its ferocious brand of high-flying truck racing into a stadium of adrenaline-thirsty motorsports fanatics.

Torchmate/Speed Technologies’ Dawson Kirchner arrives at rounds seven and eight on a hot streak, boasting some blistering qualifying times and a first place finish from his round five and six performance at Glen Helen Raceway. But Kirchner will have his hands full, battling Walker Evans Racing/SoCal SuperTruck’s RJ Anderson, who locked down the points lead after his round one win and has never let loose. Running at the front of the pack, he starts the weekend with a towering 24-points over second place Pat Clark in the 16-race circuit.

RENO, NV— The last bolts are being tightened, the dents and gashes from last race’s crashes repaired, and the drivers itching to be back on dirt chasing the SuperLite Championship Series crown at the Surprise, Ariz. Speedworld Off-Road Park for rounds three and four of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, April 16 and 17.

Walker Evans Racing’s RJ Anderson and General Tire’s Jeff “Ox” Kargola each jumped to the top of the leader board with their respective wins in the first two rounds of SuperLite racing action. But they’ll have to keep at bay a pack of hungry racers, including Torchmate’s CJ Greaves — Dirt Sports Magazine’s Rookie of the Year for 2010 — Dawson Kirchner, Jessie Johnson (brother of NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson) and SiriusXM radio host Jason Ellis. skateboarder and MMA fighter

Yokohama Tires-backed Pat Clark and Kawasaki’s Chad George, who finished second and third respectively in the first round of the series, will pull out all the stops in their plight to conquer the Speedworld Off Road Park podium.

The highly competitive field will put on a horsepower-and-adrenaline-fueled show for the fans, trading paint, mashing fenders and jostling fiercely for position in the crowded and talented 2011 SuperLite racing field.

The two Surprise, Ariz. races are the third and fourth contests in a nationally-televised, 16-race series that culminates in the championship in December. SuperLite racing is part of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series.
