In the end, defending class champion Brad Lovell managed to find the podium for the sixth time this season, pulling off a respectable third-place result in hisĀ  AMSOIL/Torchmate/BFGoodrich Nissan before a boisterous Sunday afternoon crowd.

“I’m so proud to be back up here on the podium,” Lovell said. “That was a brutal race. So much banging and bumping. You just can’t avoid it on this track but today was especially hard. I took some hits today, I promise you.

Dew ATV Motocross National Championship Series, sanctioned by AMA, winds down, the circuit heads to the legendary RedBud MX in Buchanan, Mich. this weekend, July 27 and 28, for Round 9 of the 10-race series. This Saturday, the nation’s top pros will go to battle for the overall win in the Pro Class, but points leader Chad Wienen has his sights set on capturing a second consecutive championship at the penultimate round of racing.

Illinois native Chad Wienen will once again perform in front of his hometown family and friends on the familiar Midwest terrain aboard his Wienen Motorsports SSi Walsh Yamaha presented by Maxxis Tires & Team Vollmer machine. Wienen won the 2012 National Championship after returning to action only nine months after undergoing back surgery in June of 2011. Since then, Wienen has bounced back to claim seven of the eight overall wins in 2013, where he holds a commanding lead over the rest of the field heading into Round 9.

Villopoto-MX-Redbud-7-8-13BUCHANAN, Mich. – RedBud MX celebrated 40 years of hosting the world’s fastest racers on Saturday for Round 7 of the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. Taking place over Fourth of July weekend, a massive crowd was on hand to witness some of the most intense racing of the season at Buchanan’s Red Bull RedBud National in southwestern Michigan.

Amongst some of the sports most decorated racers, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto swept both motos in the 450 Class to capture his fourth overall victory of the season; further extending his points lead in the class. In the 250 Class, Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen maintained his points lead after capturing a 2-1 moto score en route to his second overall win this season.

Va. – The 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, reaches its halfway point this Saturday, July 6, with Round 7 of the 12-race series. Held at the famed RedBud MX track in Buchanan, Mich., the Red Bull RedBud National serves as the centerpiece of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, drawing spectators from all over the Midwest to witness the most prestigious motocross racers in the country do battle in the rolling hills of Southwestern Michigan.

Heading into the second half of the season, 2011 450 Class Champion Ryan Villopoto and defending 450 Class Champion Ryan Dungey share the first six overall victories with three wins, respectively. Although each rider holds three overall wins, it’s Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Villopoto who tops the championship standings by a 12-point margin over Red Bull KTM’s Dungey. En route to his current points lead in the 450 Class, Villopoto has captured nine moto wins-the most of the season-as well as the distinction of being the only rider to win a moto at every race. While Dungey only has three moto wins under his belt, the Minnesota native is the only rider to finish atop the podium at each round of the championship thus far. Buchanan, Mich. - With nine rounds of racing complete, AMA Pro ATV points leaders Chad Wienen and John Natalie have perpetuated the title chase all the way to the season finale after splitting moto-wins at the penultimate round of the 2012 AMA ATV Motocross Series at RedBud MX in Buchanan, Mich. Wienen proved strong as he outlasted the defending champion in a two-moto format, taking the overall win and extending his points lead with one round remaining.

Wienen once again grabbed the ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier Award with a 2:10.9 time. When the gate dropped for Moto 1, it was Motoworks/Can-Am’s John Natalie who took the SSiDecals Holeshot Award, with TBROWN Yamaha/Moto-X-Perts’ Thomas Brown close in tow. Brown made the move past Natalie to take over the early lead but Natalie quickly stole it back for what turned into a dominant Moto 1 for the defending champ.

Wienen Motorsports/SSi Decals/Walsh Race Craft/Yamaha’s Wienen began Moto 1 just outside the top five but worked his way into the third place position where he battled with his Yamaha Racing teammate Thomas Brown, eventually passing Brown with two laps to go. Brown was able to hold on for a third place finish in Moto 1.
