Polaris employees and Polaris riders worldwide are celebrating the life and mourning the passing of one of the company’s co-founders, David Johnson. He passed away yesterday in Roseau, Minn., after an extended illness. He was 93 years old.
Minneapolis – Polaris comes into the 2016 off-road race season with teams competing in the Grand National Cross Country series (GNCC), World Off-Road Championship series (WORCS), Best in the Desert (BITD), SCORE International, King of the Hammers (KOH) and Mud racing. The company also will be offering deeper discounts to racers on select RZR models and several lucrative GNCC ACE racing programs including unit discounts, reimbursements and end-of-the-year prizes for the top three overall finishers.
“Polaris enjoyed a very successful 2015 race season with both our established race teams and our newer teams,” said Donna Beadle, race team manager for Polaris’ Off-Road Division. “For 2016, we will continue our strong commitment to off-road racing both in race team sponsorships and racing support. We look forward to another very successful year.”
Polaris will continue to sponsor Coastal Racing for 2016. Scott Kiger will continue to run the GNCC XC1 Pro Class, this year in a RZR S 1000 EPS. Joining Kiger in the XC1 class will be 2015 XC2 Champion Sean Bogdan, also racing a RZR S 1000.
MINNEAPOLIS – Since Polaris launched its T.R.A.I.L.S. Grant Program in 2006, the company has donated more than $1.7 million to ATV and ORV clubs, associations and grassroots groups across the United States to ensure the future of safe, legal and accessible ATV riding. This past September, Polaris awarded its 200th grant, highlighting the breadth of the program and the extent of its impact on the riding community.
Minneapolis – Best in the Desert’s (BITD) Vegas to Reno is the longest off-road race in the U.S. and more than 50 UTVs would line up to represent the three UTV classes.
Polaris Factory Racer Justin Lambert and co-driver Justin Sheakley in the No. 1918 Cognito Motorsports RZR 4 1000 would tackle the dusty 545-mile race in just over 13 hours. It wouldn’t be completely smooth sailing for the team as they would have some downtime due to a collision with another car. They were able to make up the deficit and finish first in the Pro class on corrected time. Polaris Factory Racer Brandon Schueler in the Jagged X No. 1919 would also represent Polaris on the podium in third place. The top five Pro finishers would include four RZRs including the new RZR XP Turbo EPS driven by Polaris Factory Racer and UTV Inc.’s Johnny Angal who built the car in 12 days and finished fifth.

Minneapolis, Jan. 15, 2014– Polaris RZRs kicked off the Best in the Desert race season with a win at the THR Parker 250, in Parker, Ariz. 2013 Best in the Desert UTV Champions, Jagged X and the No. 1919 RZR XP 4 900, with Jagged X’s Brandon Schueler and Blake Van de Loo would take the checkered flag, and Coastal Racing’s No. 1934, with Scott Kiger and Mark Holz, taking second.
The inaugural race of the year for BITD saw the largest UTV entry yet with 33 side-by-sides entered. Schueler and Van de Loo would start in thirteenth position. Thanks to some great driving and a trouble-free day, they were able to work their way to the front and pass the No. 1934 Coastal car for the win.
