Off-Road-Expo-Logo-10-2-12POMONA, Calif. — The 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo powered by General Tire is arguably the biggest show of the year for the off-road industry, and now a very exclusive group of attendees will be able to enjoy a one-of-a-kind VIP experience. Family Events, in partnership with the Off Road Business Association (ORBA), will offer a limited number of VIP Experience Packages to be sold to enthusiasts who want to enjoy special privileges including a “Lunch with the Legends”, VIP parking and more.

“Our goal was to create a fundraising campaign a little different than the normal ‘please donate’ routine,” said ORBA Public Relations Director Jeff Knoll. “The board came up with a great idea, the VIP Experience Package that will include a private lunch with some of the biggest names in the sport including Brian Deegan, Casey Currie, Ivan Stewart, Shannon Campbell, Johnny Greaves, and more.

JOHNSON VALLEY, CA:  In the ongoing effort to Save the Johnson Valley OHV area, a new campaign has emerged to raise national awareness regarding the expansion of the 29 Palms Marine base onto public lands. Volunteers have created a petition on the White House.gov site (http://petitions.whitehouse.gov) with the hope of receiving formal recognition from the White House regarding The Johnson Valley OHV area.  The White House has committed to responding to any petition that receives 25,000 or more signatures within a 30 day time frame.

The Off Road Business Association (ORBA) has joined the growing number of individuals and associations looking to affect the national elections of key states in hopes that pro-trail candidates will win back the Senate. OHV Enthusiasts now have their own national Political Action Committee or PAC so it was an easy decision for the ORBA Board of Directors to seek support. Offsetting the big money of the environmental movement will be no easy task, but at least the OHV industry is making headway.

Don Amador founder of the Trail PAC explained the scenario in 3 key races in which Pro OHV candidates are facing attacks. George Allen in Virginia, Denny Rehberg in Montana, and Heather Wilson, in New Mexico.  In Wilsons race in New Mexico five “Big Green” groups have formed a coalition to defeat Wilson, who is running for the seat left vacant by Democratic Sen. Jeff Bingaman’s retirement. Her Democratic opponent is Rep. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., a board member of the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance. “That group has a long history of opposing responsible OHV recreation on public lands,” Amador said.
