CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA — Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. announces a tougher all-terrain tire is now available for truck and SUV owners.  The all-new Toyo® Open Country® A/T II offers over 40% more treadlife than the leading competitors, exceptional all-season performance, an aggressive new tread design, and a quiet ride.

It also comes with an industry-leading 65,000-mile warranty for P-Metric and Metric sizes, as well as a 50,000-mile warranty for LT and flotation sizes.  Last but not least, the Open Country A/T II qualifies for Toyo Tires’ No Regrets® 45-day, 500-mile trial offer.

Improvements in performance and wear are attributed to changes in compounding and design. A new wear-resistant tread compound has significantly increased tread life while maintaining all-season capabilities.  The new tread design delivers enhanced performance on and off the road, including in rain, mud and snow.  At the same time, tread features were developed with low noise and comfort in mind.

Additionally, Yokohama’s proprietary iPad app is made available for download for consumers to take on the go.

Final preparations for 43rd Tecate SCORE Baja 500 are well underway. Only one day remains before the start this year’s Baja 500, and race crews and drivers worked on vehicle setups, pre-running sections of the course, and finishing up pit strategy for Saturday’s race.

We did some pre-running on the course today and crossed paths with a number of racers, including Robby Gordon and the Speed Energy Team, Armin Schwarz of All German Motorsports, Lexus racer Joe Bacal (who was probably the only racer pre-running in a Lexus LX 570), dirt bike and ATV racers and more.

If you need some new rubber for your off-road rig, this is your chance to win a new set of BFGoodrich tires from Off-Road.com. To celebrate its long history in off-road racing and to coincide with the 43rd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500, BFGoodrich will be giving away a set of five off-road tires to one lucky Off-Road.com reader.

BFGoodrich has been a staple in SCORE off-road racing for decades. Last year at the 2010 Baja 1000, BFGoodrich celebrated its 35th year racing in SCORE, and drivers Gus Vildosola Jr. and Sr. earned BFG its 70th overall four-wheel victory with the win. At this year’s Tecate SCORE Baja 500, BFGoodrich drivers will be vying for BFG’s 28th overall four-wheel win in the last 31 years.

For the tire giveaway, any BFGoodrich off-road tire can be chosen, including the all-new Rugged Terrain, the All-Terrain T/A KO, the Mud-Terrain T/A KM2, Baja T/A or even the Krawler T/A KX. Any size from 37 inches and under can be selected, so whether you’re looking to upgrade your rock crawler, pre-runner, buggy or tow vehicle, this is your chance to score.

To enter the BFGoodrich Off-Road.com Tire Giveaway, simply head over to Off-Road.com’s Facebook page and Like us (if you’re already a fan of our Facebook page you will automatically be entered). We will select a winner next week after the SCORE Baja 500.

Be sure to check back with Off-Road.com next week for coverage of the 43rd SCORE Baja 500. For more information on BFGoodrich Tires, visit BFGoodrich.com.

BFGoodrich is asking for help in aiding the victims of the storms and tornadoes that traveled from Texas to New York at the end of April. Here’s the release sent out from the company today:

Hundreds of tornadoes touched down from Texas to New York April 27-28, with the worst damage in Mississippi and Alabama. Tuscaloosa, Ala., and its surrounding areas were some of the hardest hit, with a tornado cutting a 32-mile swath through the town, wiping out homes and businesses.  Since 1945, Tuscaloosa has been home to a major BFGoodrich manufacturing facility, employing more than 1,400 people and making such tires as the All-Terrain T/A®KO, Mud-Terrain T/A®KM2 and g-Force Sport.

Nearly 340 people died in the storms, more than two-thirds of those were in Alabama, with thousands more injured and without homes.  Fortunately all BFGoodrich plant employees escaped unharmed, but many of their homes, property, family and friends did not.

We need your help to restore the homes, businesses and spirit of the great city of Tuscaloosa and the state of Alabama.  Go to the BFGoodrich Tires Facebook Page now to learn about how you can help.

SPECIAL NOTE: To bring more attention to the plight of those in Tuscaloosa, BFGoodrich Tires asks that you please use the hashtag  #TUSCARE in your tweets for the remainder of the day on Thursday, May 12.  Also please feel free to spread the word via your Facebook profiles (easy share feature is available on the top of the Disaster Relief page).
