Thomas-Brown-ATV-MX-8-12-13HURRICANE MILLS, Tenn. – It wouldn’t seem right if the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA, didn’t have some rain fall for the final round of racing at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. With the most mud races the series has had in a single season, Mother Nature has played more than her part in the 10-round race series. But as clear skies came through in the afternoon, Saturday’s track shaped up to give spectators some great racing.

Wienen Motorsports SSi Walsh Yamaha presented by Maxxis Tires & Team Vollmer rider Thomas Brown won his first ever Pro class overall at Loretta Lynn’s. Brown made his pro debute in 2009 and has been working towards his life goal since. Brown has been present on the podium at all but two rounds this season and was able to secure second place overall for the 2013 Championship points this weekend.

Casey-Martin-ATV-MX-7-22-13MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – At the end of each season, the Rookie of the Year is awarded to the highest placing rookie in the AMA Pro ATV class. With only two rounds remaining in the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA, the battle for Rookie of the Year has been as enticing as the championship chase.

A rider is eligible to receive this esteemed award if he is in his first full year of competition in the ATV Pro MX circuit. The rider who scores the most championship points in the AMA Pro division is award Rookie of the Year.

Wienen-ATV-MX-off-road-6-10-13DANVILLE, Va. – The 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA, once again put on a show for ATVMX fans despite undesirable weather conditions at Round 6. After steady rainfall prior to the weekend, the weather finally cleared for Saturday’s Pro race. The Bob “Smitty” Smith Memorial ATV National showcased tight racing all afternoon in Danville, Va., where series points leader and defending champion Chad Wienen claimed his fourth consecutive overall win of the season.

“I wish the weather was something we could control but I’m just really glad we have our mud set up dialed in and we have our machines working really well. You never know what is going to happen in the mud but I’m always thrilled to come out of a weekend that can go any which way on the box and still holding onto the red plate,” said Wienen.

Two-time national champion Joe Byrd snagged the moto 1 SSi Decals Holeshot award aboard his Joe Byrd Quad Riding School Dasa machine in front of a raging field. “I knew the start was going to be crucial and that I had to get a great jump. My machine was set up well and was really hooking up to pull me to top of the hill first,” said Byrd.

ATVMX-Logo-3-21-13MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 5, 2013) – As the hunt for the coveted National Championship continues in the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA, the excitement on the racetrack makes this season one of the most contested championships in recent history. The fastest racers on four-wheels return to the northeast this weekend, June 8 and 9, to compete for the win at Round 6 of the 10-race series, deemed the Bob “Smitty” Smith Memorial ATV National.

Smitty was the series amateur referee and involved in the ATV community for over 10 years until he lost his battle to cancer late last year. Round 6 opening ceremonies at Birch Creek MX-Smitty’s hometown track-have been dedicated in memory of the late Bob Smith, who was a Danville local and always had a special place in his heart for the Birch Creek event.

The defending series champion and current points leader Chad Wienen is looking for his fourth consecutive overall win this weekend aboard his Wienen Motorsports SSi Walsh Yamaha presented by Maxxis Tires & Team Vollmer machine. Wienen went 1-3 in front of his hometown crowd to grab the overall win last round but with competition high, there’s no telling who’s going to find that top spot in Virginia.

Borich-GNCC-Preview-5-15-13MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (May 15, 2013) – As the 2013 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country season approaches the midway point this weekend, 4-Time champ Chris Borich remains undefeated in the XC1 Pro ATV class with five consecutive wins under his belt. The series heads to Springville, Ind. this weekend for the Dunlop Limestone 100 GNCC, Round 6 of the series, where the fast-paced Indiana terrain could help level the playing field and allow a potential new race winner to end Borich’s dominant streak.

With 64 career wins to date, Borich has already proven his merit amongst the best XC ATV racers in GNCC history as he nears the all time wins record. Eight-Time GNCC champ Barry Hawk currently holds the record with 68 total wins, which is within reach for the consistent Borich as eight races still remain in 2013.

Reliable Tool Supply/Maxxis rider Chris Bithell could perhaps be the one to break his Suzuki-mounted teammate’s win streak, leading the champ for more laps than anyone else this season. Riding aboard an all-new machine and program for 2013, Bithell continues to become more comfortable each round and looks to secure a race win this season. Bithell currently sits third overall in the championship standings, only five points below AmPro Yamaha’s Walker Fowler.

The AMSOIL Spring National descends upon the nationally renowned Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tenn. this weekend, April 13 and 14, to continue one of the most highly contested championship chases in recent ATVMX history.

Defending champion Chad Wienen picked up where he left things off in 2012, as he claimed the overall win at the series opener aboard his Wienen Motorsports SSi Walsh Yamaha presented by Maxxis Tires and Team Vollmer machine. Wienen currently holds the points lead early in the season but with nine rounds to go, the defending champ has his work cut out for him with a field of rising talent and several veterans of the sport chasing close behind.

ATV-MX-Podium-3-24-13WASHINGTON, Ga. – Mother Nature made her presence known at the opening round of the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA, in Washington, Ga. on Saturday. With less than perfect conditions, twenty-three pro riders lined up at the muddy Aonia Pass MX track, creating a full gate for the first time in recent history.

NOTE: Youth and Amateur Class Racing was cancelled on Sunday due to weather.

Defending champion Chad Wienen rode smart and collected to grab the first victory of 2013, due in part to his knowledge gained from earning the number one plate in 2012. Wienen scored a 3-2 finish to secure the overall win aboard his Wienen Motorsports SSi Walsh Yamaha presented by Maxxis Tires & Team Vollmer machine. Wienen was able to secure top five starts, allowing him to move into a favorable position to take the overall win. “I’m happy with the outcome. Anything is possible with a mud race but I’m really excited to be leaving still carrying the red number plate,” said Wienen.

ATVMX-Logo-3-21-13Morgantown, W.Va. – Defending ATVMX champion Chad Wienen will wear the coveted number one plate for the first time ever heading into the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA, season opener this weekend. Wienen Motorsports/SSi/Walsh/Yamaha presented by Maxxis Tires and Team Vollmer’s Wienen will be up against the fastest four-wheeled ATV Motocross racers in the world this Saturday, March 23, at Aonia Pass MX Park in Washington, Ga.

The 2013 ATVMX Pro lineup boasts one of the most stacked fields in recent history with 24 riders expected to line up at the opening round of racing. With several veteran riders, past champions and new riders making their debut into the pro class, the chase for the 2013 championship title will be one to follow. Two-time champ and ATVMX veteran John Natalie contested Wienen for the championship in 2012 but was left short and finished second overall in the points chase. This season Natalie will be riding a MotoSport.com/Motoworks/DWT machine and looking to reclaim that number one plate.
