This weekend the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) made its way back to the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park for rounds 3 and 4. The newly built track featured massive elevation changes, huge air, and unique dirt that provided a very unpredictable racing surface. The teams piled in on Thursday and prepared for the weekend battle that lay before them.

The weekend kicked off with the premier Pro-4 class. Team Associated’s Kyle LeDuc was looking to keep up his momentum after coming back from his sweep in rounds one and two in Firebird, AZ. When the green flag flew, Kyle took his front row starting spot and never looked back. Running away from the field, he gained a large lead and set into a comfortable pace and cruised into the checkered flag in the top spot once again. Following Kyle was the #10 of Greg Adler in second, and the #22 Hart and Huntington ride of Josh Merrell finished up in the third place.

Effective immediately, the competition dates scheduled for the sixth and seventh rounds of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series race in Reno, NV have been changed from Labor Day weekend, September 1st and 2nd to one week earlier, the weekend of August 25th and 26th

The decision to move the race arose from lengthy logistical planning meetings with the Reno and Sparks City Managers and local Hotel and Casino owners. The decision was made in the best interest of the competitors, fans, city and the series.

“The moving up of the Reno rounds at the Wild West Motorsports Park will enhance the race experience for all of the parties involved,” stated Tony Vanillo, Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Competition Director. “Changing the date from Labor Day weekend will also free up the holiday weekend to spend with friends and family and avoid overcrowded accommodations and facilities.”

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – MX Sports Pro Racing and Alli Sports announce that the brand new Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park will become the new home of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, in Southern California. On the heels of announcing the 2012 series schedule and advance ticket sales for next summer, both parties are pleased to welcome the completely renovated Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park as the host site of the season finale, set to take place on Saturday, September 8, 2012.

Located in the hotbed of the motocross industry, and about an hour outside of the major metropolitan areas of Los Angeles and San Diego, Lake Elsinore serves as an ideal location for fans of the sport across the entire southern portion of the state. It’s also well-known to students of the sport’s history as the site of the Lake Elsinore Grand Prix, which was featured prominently in the epic motorcycle racing documentary film On Any Sunday back in 1971 – one year before the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship was born.

“A successful search has landed the Pro Motocross finale at what we feel is the ideal location for a national event in Southern California,” said MX Sports President Davey Coombs. “This is a brand new facility that was built from the ground up to host such an event, and offers riders one of the best layouts of any track in the country. We like to close out the summer where the sport of motocross thrives, and we believe we’ve found the perfect place in Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park.”

The Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series released the 2012 regional schedule today for both Arizona and Southern California with Utah dates TBA.   The Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series   Arizona will be hosting a 7 race series on 3 different tracks across Arizona while the Southern California series schedule will see the addition of the new and improved Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park to join Glen Helen Raceway on its 6 race schedule.  Both series will finish out the points season at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first ever Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Shootout bringing together racers from all over the west to battle it out.

“We are excited by the growth that all of our Lucas Oil Regional Series have seen this year,” said Southern California series director Lee Perfect.  “We have seen that with sponsor, racer and spectator support it is definitely possible to put on affordable, fun grassroots events that provide a place for racers to do some good racing, get some practice for the professional series and come out and just have a good time with a limited budget and time commitment.  We are excited to offer a new venue in Southern California and are certain that the end of the year shootout is going to be a great addition to the schedule for everyone.  The overall focus of all of the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series has been to keep everything affordable, fun and family friendly and we look forward to working together to continue to do that in 2012.”

European-style wheel-to-wheel rallycross made its U.S. debut on August 28-29, 2010. The newly tagged U.S. Rallycross series saw an awesome performance from  Subaru driver Travis Pastrana in his Vermont SportsCar prepared 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Starting from the rear of a six-car grid after a restart of the Final, Pastrana worked his way through the field to finish second overall. Pastrana’s Subaru Rally Team USA teammate, Dave Mirra, finished close behind in 3rd overall, while Tanner Foust took the win.

The Rallycross, organized by RallyCar (formerly Rally America), was held at the Lightning Bolt course of New Jersey Motorsports Park, a 1.9-mile track which was modified to include three dirt sections with a total distance of 1.3 miles. Pastrana’s performance wowed the thousands of fans in attendance and helped create a memorable debut for the sport in America.
