Millfield, Ohio – Round 8 of the 2012 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship Series took to the hills of Sunday Creek Raceway where Chad Wienen and Joel Hetrick split moto-wins in the AMA Pro ATV division. Wienen’s Moto 2 win gave him the overall win, while Hetrick and Josh Upperman rounded out the podium.

Despite Friday evening’s severe storms that crippled much of southern Ohio, the crew had the track prepped and ready for qualifying Saturday morning. It was Motoworks/Can-Am’s Joel Hetrick who once again earned the ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier Award after only one timed qualifying session—a result of the severe weather.

When the gate dropped for Moto 1, it was Wienen Motorsports/SSi Decals/Walsh Race Craft/Yamaha’s Chad Wienen who grabbed his first SSi Decals Holeshot Award of 2012, with Hetrick, Baldwin Motorports/PEP’s Upperman and John Natalie in tow. Hetrick began applying pressure to Wienen early, before finally securing the pass for the lead on lap 3. Wienen began closing the gap on Hetrick by mid-race, but the young gun put in several quick and consistent laps, building a comfortable cushion all the way to the checkers.

Wienen crossed the finish line in second, while Motoworks/Can-Am’s Natalie came through in third after working his way past Upperman for the final podium position. Meanwhile, TBROWN Yamaha Racing/Moto-X-Perts Yamaha Thomas Brown spent much of Moto 1 chasing after Upperman and the lead pack, ultimately settling for a fifth place finish.

Millfield, OH – After suffering a disappointing mechanical failure at the previous round in West Virginia, Chris Borich got back on top of the podium with a spectacular win at the Wiseco John Penton GNCC, round nine of the 2011 Can-Am Grand National Cross Series in Millfield, Ohio.

Borich battled race-long with Ballance Racing Yamaha’s Taylor Kiser, Foremost Insurance/Warnert Racing Can-Am’s Chris Bithell and GT Thunder-backed Brian Wolf before putting his Rockstar Makita Suzuki into the lead on the final lap to claim his fifth victory of the season and extended his lead in the series standings to an impressive 27 points heading into the summer break.

“That race at Snowshoe was kind of a bummer, it was just a freak deal and I thought we had at least a top two. You just can’t control things like that sometimes, but it’s good to come back strong here and get the win,” said Borich.

Millfield, Ohio – There was a noticeable absence at this weekend’s Suzuki Summer ATV National at Sunday Creek Raceway as Motoworks Can-Am’s Chad Wienen missed his first race of this season after undergoing surgery just last week. Although Wienen will not be racing again this season, the ATV Motocross family will continue to follow and support Wienen in his recovery efforts.

Round 8 of the AMA ATV Motocross National Championship Series presented by DWT took over the grounds of Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield, Ohio, for the first time ever in the history of the series. With its wide-open spectating view, first-class parking and undeniably workable clay terrain, the Sunday Creek facility was a big hit on the AMA ATVMX circuit. A small rain took place in the early afternoon, creating an interesting dynamic for the first set of motos, but as soon as the rain stopped and the sun came out, it was a perfect day for ATV racing.

Motoworks Can-Am’s Jeremie Warnia grabbed the ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier Award after taking advantage of the dry track conditions during the morning practice sessions. “The track was awesome for practice, I prefer when it’s dry definitely. My Can-Am was running really good and I just found smooth lines out there,” said Warnia.
