The Traxxas TORC Series returned to Crandon International Raceway for the Forest County Potawatomi, Chairman’s Cup race, Rounds 5 and 6 of the series. For the first time, Ultra4 racers got to race on the legendary track known as the “Big House.”

The Chairman’s Cup Race pits Pro-2 (two wheel drive) and Pro-4 (four wheel drive) racers against each other for a ten lap shoot-out. The Pro-2 drivers start ahead of the Pro-4′s to give them a better chance against the Pro-4′s superior traction in the dirt. At some point in the closing laps the charging Pro-4′s catch up to the Pro-2′s, if they’re lucky.

This year the King Shocks equipped Ram/Mopar number 21 Pro-2 was able to run away and take the victory. Second spot went to the King Shocks equipped, Real Tree Energy Pro-4 of Adrian Cenni who drove the last few laps with a flat rear tire. The battle for third and fourth was between Teammates and Brothers Mark and Mike Jenkins in their King Shocks equipped, Traxxas Pro-4′s. They both crossed the line at what looked like a tie but the win went to Mike by just a hair. King Shocks racers Mike Oberg, Scott Taylor and Jeff Kincaid finished 6th-8th.

JOLIET, IL—Douglas Motorsports proudly honored the men and women of the U.S. Military at the Chicago TORC Series presented by AMSOIL race by running a special graphic treatment on the number 7 AMSOIL F-150. Live SPEED Channel television coverage provided an opportunity to make the tribute in front of a huge audience.

Earlier this year, TORC Series drivers Scott Douglas, Mike Jenkins, and Chad Hord made the rounds of U.S. military bases in the Middle East. Rob Powers from Armed Forces Entertainment with the support of TRAXXAS and AMSOIL coordinated the two-week goodwill trip. The Pro Off-Road Champions Tour was a life-changing trip for Scott Douglas and he decided to give something back with a tribute to the troops.

Douglas carried a backpack on the trip that contained a large sheet of automotive vinyl wrap material. At every opportunity, Scott had the soldiers sign the wrap and leave a personal note if they wanted to. Once back in the States, the wrap was transferred to the hood of one of Douglas Motorsports PRO 4X4 bodies. Douglas had the familiar AMSOIL silver and black paint scheme converted to a desert tan to match the hood. Stenciled on the hood along with the AFE logos are the words “Off-Road Champions Tour” and “Douglas Motorsports Proud To Support The Troops.” The special body also has “Support Our Troops” on the rear fenders. Scott Douglas and Mike Jenkins reminisced in the pits prior to the truck unveiling in the PRO 4X4 race, recalling the names, faces, and places they experienced on the Middle East tour.
