San Felipe, Baja California – In case nobody noticed, Rob MacCachren has been dominating the SCORE Desert Series races held in San Felipe, Mexico. He won both the 250 and the Challenge of Champions races in 2011 and then went Back-to-Back winning the Mastercraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 again in 2012. With three overall victories in as many races, it would appear that Rob and his team would be hard to beat when they return March 8-10 for this year’s race but things have changed. Rob is racing his own brand new Geiser SCORE Trophy Truck and this year’s course has a new layout that has fewer miles of punishing, high speed whoops like in years past.

“We are just doing our homework like we always do,” said Rob MacCachren, “We are running a new Geiser Brother’s SCORE Trophy Truck out of our own shop this year. Jim Blackmore is the crew chief; he and I go all the way back to the Mickey Thompson shortcourse days. Our BFG tires are hooking up and the FOX shocks on our new Rockstar Energy Drink, SCORE Trophy Truck are dialed in; we’re ready to go.

SAN DIEGO — Roger Norman is a quick learner, a much-needed quality if you are the new owner of SCORE International, the world’s foremost desert racing organization. A relative newcomer to the sport, Norman, 49, who was the overall winner of the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 in 2008, is no stranger to the business world as an experienced casino owner, business owner, developer and contractor as he quickly adapts his personal passion, professional skills and business resources to lead SCORE into a new era.

The first chapter in the book of SCORE according to Norman unfolds next week in San Felipe, Mexico as he launches his passionate vision to expand the new SCORE, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary season in 2013. Norman, has taken the reigns of SCORE from a true folk-legend in Sal Fish, the 73 year old icon who was the face of SCORE since soon after the organization was founded in 1973 by the late Mickey Thompson.

Norman lives in Reno, Nev. with his wife of 20-plus years, Elise.  They both were born and raised in San Diego and grew up around motorsports. Both his father and later his step father where involved in various types of motorsports and Norman quickly developed a passion for adventure sports and while concentrating the first part of his career on developing his business acumen, he eventually found his way into the desert in the in the late 1990s.

SAN DIEGO—For Las Vegas’ Rob MacCachren, winning a desert race in San Felipe, Mexico comes down to one thing-homework.  Ever the student of his craft, MacCachren, a four-time winner in this race, leads a race-record 36 SCORE Trophy Trucks into next week’s 27th annual MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250.

While the Roger Norman era of SCORE International officially began last Friday with pre-running over the challenging 254.0-mile course, MacCachren will begin his ‘homework’ in his No. 11 Rockstar Energy MacCachren Motorsports Ford F-150 hoping to win his fourth consecutive race in San Felipe racing in the marquee SCORE Trophy Truck division for high-tech, 850-horsepower unlimited production trucks introduced in 1994 by SCORE.

SAN DIEGO—While admittedly fitting all of the pieces together is definitely a ‘work in progress,’ new SCORE President Roger Norman has announced some additional staff appointments as he continues to prepare to launch his first season at the helm of SCORE at next week’s 27th MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250.

As new owner of the world’s foremost desert racing organization, Norman, who himself is a SCORE Baja 1000 overall champion, will start his legacy in 2013 as SCORE International celebrates its 40th anniversary season. SCORE was founded in 1973 by the late motorsports innovator Mickey Thompson.

Purchasing SCORE International from Sal Fish on Dec. 20 of last year, Norman has been operating at warp-speed as he finalizes his race staff to start the SCORE year.
