SCORE-Logo-12-20-11SAN DIEGO — Tuesday’s Dirt LiveHD SCORE spotlight will shine on third generation desert racer Jessica McMillin and veteran motorcycle racer Kirk Russell as the featured SCORE racers at 7 p.m. (PT) on the increasingly-popular internet show. Airing in High Definition on www.score-international.com, the show will air from its broadcast home at the SCORE International tech shop in El Cajon, Calif., just east of San Diego.

McMillin, 28, is teammate to Heidi Steele, 41, as a pair of ‘experienced rookies’ in driving the No. 14 Monster Energy Desert Assassins Chevy Silverado in the marquee SCORE Trophy Truck racing division while Russell, 43, owner of a motorcycle tour company in Mexico, races as a co-rider for a variety of pro motorcycle racers in several classes over the years.

Roger Norman’s Dirt Live one-hour show is broadcast live weekly and the show is anchored around Norman’s two desert racing series, the SCORE Desert Series and the High Desert Racing Association as well as the new bonus points championship purse program he has developed called the World Championship of Desert Racing. The company owns 29 overall wins at the Baja 500.

Robby Gordon went off first on Saturday, overcame an early stumble and went on to claim the overall victory and the Trophy Truck division at the 501-mile race in a time of just over 10 hours. It was Gordon’s 10th career SCORE Trophy Truck win.

Team BFGoodrich members Bryce Menzies (3rd), Rob MacCachren (7th) and Dan McMillin (11th) led a contingent of more than 20 racers on the tires that have won more races in Baja than any other tire – BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR and BFGoodrich T/A KRT.

YTC follows the teammates in this Q&A as they gear up for the Baja 500 race on May 31-June 1. The co-drivers discuss working together, the challenges of the Trophy Truck division and race – as well as tire – strategy.

Heidi is a four-time SCORE Class champion who is married to Desert Assassins teammate and veteran off-roader Cameron Steele. Jessica, also a SCORE champion, but new to the Desert Assassins team, is part of the famous off-road racing McMillin family. Both drivers are racing in the Trophy Truck class for the first time and competing on specially-engineered 40-inch Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S® R tires mounted on their 800-horsepower Geiser Brothers truck.

FOX shocksEL CAJON, Calif. – A windless day allowed thick dust to blanket everything at the General Tire Mint 400 in Las Vegas, where FOX athletes used their superior damping performance to dominate a course that quickly degraded into huge, square-edged holes filled with rocks.

As each car passed, more and more stones that littered the ground were knocked loose, falling into the deep ruts. With conditions so rough, it was FOX athletes battling amongst themselves for the lead. FOX took the overall win, swept the podium in the Trick Truck class, won the unlimited open-wheel class (1500) and grabbed eight of the top 10 finishing spots.

After roughly eight hours of racing, the lead Trophy Trucks are at about race mile 500. BJ Baldwin is currently in the lead, with Bryce Menzies, Gustavo Vildosola, Rob MacCachren and Dan McMillin trailing him, respectively.

The AGM Trophy Truck team is about 40 miles off the pace as physically the 11th Trophy Truck – a pretty good start considering we were told they had two flats at the start of the race and came off the line 31st.  We’re waiting at San Ignacio at race mile 615, as Martin Christensen will take over for Armin Schwarz in the #15 TT and race the final 500-or-so miles to the finish.

Points leader Luke McMillin of San Diego, Calif., will head the field of competitors when the Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts travels to Southern California for the second race of the season April 13-15 with the annual running PCI Radios 300 in Ridgecrest.

The five-lap event will include 60-mile laps between Bakersfield and Barstow. Fifteen classes of vehicles will run in the event in SNORE’s fifth return to Ridgecrest.

McMillin rounded out a strong finish in the season-opener Feb.25-26 at the Battle at Primm driving a Class 1600 entry. He now leads the points with 797.

Currently trailing McMillin in the $20,000 SNORE Kartek points are Eric Muller, Class 9, with 730 points; Curt Geer, Class 1600, 729; Dave Cote, Stock Bug, 714; tie between Bryce Menzies, Unlimited Truck, and Shawn Mecham, Unlimited, 710; Richard Starkey, Class 10, 705; Brady Wisdom, Class 12, 693; Justin Smith, Class 1600, 685; and John Pellissier, Class 1800, 675.

The 2012 schedule also includes the Dusty Times 250 in Caliente June 8-10; the KC HiLites Midnight Special Sept.7-9 in Lucerne, Calif.; the SNORE 250 Oct. 26-28 in Pahrump; and the Rage at the River Dec. 7-9 in Laughlin.

SANTEE, Calif. — FOX, the industry-leading ride dynamics company, extended its SCORE Desert Series Baja Trophy Truck winning streak to nine with Rob MacCachren’s win at the MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250.MacCachren ran the same FOX External Cooling System equipped bypass suspension, also known as the Cactus Cooler, that helped him win on this course last September.

The San Felipe racecourse is well known for its relentless punishment of suspension systems. Its seemingly never-ending stretches of three- to four-foot deep whoops can raise shock temperatures to more than a searing 400 degrees.

While MacCachren’s Baja experience, talent and finesse have earned him championships and victories throughout his career, it’s the equipment that historically has held MacCachren back from pushing his truck harder.
