Off-Road-Motorsports-Hall-of-Fame-9-21-12The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame inducted five new well deserving off-road legends on Friday, October 4 in Pomona, California.  Reaching its highest attendance yet, the sold-out show consisting of almost 300 guests filled the banquet room and helped in honoring the late Larry Bergquist, Bob Chandler, Frank DeAngelo, Jerry Herbst and Bob “the Weatherman” Steinberger as the Class of 2013.

Bob Chandler is known to many as the creator of the monster truck industry.  His most well-known creation:  Bigfoot #1.  His many years of innovating has led to safety technology and ultimately saving lives. Chandler’s team devotes many efforts to support important causes like Make-A-Wish Foundation, children’s hospitals and the like.

Baja-Social-Club-Trailer-7-26-13Almost three years in the making and supported by General Tire, Oakley and the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA), Baja Social Club stars motorcycle legend Malcolm Smith, off-road legend Walker Evans, dune buggy inventor Bruce Meyers and inaugural NORRA Mexican 1000 winner Vic Wilson. The 60-minute documentary film is being directed by James Masters and was created by Executive Producer Marty Fiolka.

Thanks to newly uncovered theatrical Hollywood-quality film footage not seen since 1968, the Baja Social Club trailer includes appearances by an incredible “who’s who” of motorsports names including James Garner, Mickey Thompson, Parnelli Jones, Bob Bondurant, Scooter Patrick and even Dave Despain.  Also included are off-road icons Robby Gordon, Rod Hall, Johnny Johnson, Larry Minor, Larry Bergquist, Lynn Chenowth and Andy DeVercelly Jr.

(May 23, 2013) – The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF) announced today the 2013 Class of Inductees.  The late Larry Bergquist, Bob Chandler, Frank DeAngelo, Jerry Herbst and Bob “The Weatherman” Steinberger will have their names added to the venerable list of those who have committed their lives to the off-road community.

The five inductees’ extensive accomplishments cover a number of arenas in the sport including off-road racing, pioneers of the industry and for the first time: special achievement.

Their legacies will be celebrated and displayed for the public in Gallery Four within the famed National Automobile Museum – the Harrah Collection – located in Reno, Nev.  They join names synonymous with the sport including Parnelli Jones, Malcolm Smith, Steve McQueen, James Garner, Walker Evans, Rod Hall as well as many others who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes making the sport prosper and grow.
