Monster-Energy-Cup-Track-9-27-13AURORA, Ill. – Feld Motor Sports® unveiled today the track design for the Monster Energy Cup that will take place at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on October 19. Designed by five-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael, this year’s Monster Energy Cup track will be so massive that the stadium itself can’t contain it.

The feedback from riders and fans alike was that last year’s Monster Energy Cup track provided some of the sport’s best racing, so the goal this year was to amplify the existing model. It was a simple solution for Carmichael: Use most of last year’s track elements and reverse the layout.

“The Monster Energy Cup track layout has continued to be on the challenging side and host great racing,” said defending Monster Energy Cup Champion Justin Barcia. “Carmichael always comes up with interesting concepts and ideas that blend motocross and supercross elements, so to hear the 2013 track layout has been reversed from last year’s design brings a whole new level of uniqueness to this race.”

Villopoto-Lake-Elsinore-MX-8-22-13MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Following 11 rounds of grueling competition on the most challenging and demanding tracks in the country, the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will come to a dramatic conclusion on Saturday with the 2nd Annual Red Bull Lake Elsinore National in Lake Elsinore, Calif.

Although the 250 and 450 Class titles have already been decided, there is still plenty on the line as riders look to capture the final overall victory of the season at Round 12. For Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey, a win at Saturday’s finale would allow the 2012 450 Class Champion to move into second place in all-time race wins in the 450 Class, where he currently sits tied with Bob Hannah at 27 career wins, three of which he earned in 2013. A fourth victory this season would also allow Dungey to maintain an undefeated record at the Lake Elsinore National.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto has put forth a dominant season, winning 16 of the first 22 motos to clinch the 450 Class Championship one round early. Villopoto has enjoyed seven overall wins through the first 11 rounds this season, putting him in a three-way-tie with Mike LaRocco and Gary Jones at 11 all-time career wins. Furthermore, an overall victory at Saturday’s Lake Elsinore National would put Villopoto among the top 10 all-time race winners in the 450 Class.

Villopoto-Start-motocross-8-12-13NEW BERLIN, N.Y. – The 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, descended upon central New York’s historic Unadilla MX on Saturday for the annual Built Ford Tough Unadilla National. New Berlin’s scenic property hosted the tenth round of the 13-race championship, marking the series’ final stop on the East coast before heading west for the last two rounds of competition.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto took another step toward capturing the 450 Class Championship after sweeping both motos at Unadilla. It was a flawless day for Villopoto, beginning with his impressive performance in the morning’s timed qualifying session where he laid down the fastest lap time in the 450 Class.

From there, Villopoto captured the Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot in Moto 1 of the 450 Class to grab an early lead over Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey. Dungey was accompanied in the early laps by BTO Sports.com/KTM’s Andrew Short and N-FAB/TiLube Yamaha’s Bobby Kiniry. Kiniry soon ran into issues that forced the New York native to pull off in Moto 1, while Short eventually dropped outside the top five.

James-Stewart-Motocross-7-29-13MILLVILLE, Minn. - The 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, made its lone visit to Minnesota on Saturday for the ninth round of the season from Millville’s Spring Creek MX Park. With temperatures cooler than usual in the Midwest, the Red Bull Spring Creek National produced plenty of exciting race action for the 31st annual event.

After a five-year winning streak at Spring Creek, Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey missed the center of the podium on Saturday. However, a Moto 2 win in the 450 Class gave Dungey’s hometown fans a reason to cheer for the Minnesota native. In the end, it was Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart who captured the overall win at the Red Bull Spring Creek National, his first of the 2013 season.

As the gate dropped for Moto 1 of the 450 Class, Team Honda Muscle Milk’s Justin Barcia grabbed the Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot down the championship’s longest start straight, where he battled with his teammate Trey Canard for the early lead. Red Bull KTM’s Dungey began the moto with the lead pack but a couple mistakes in the early moments caused the reigning champion to drop back as far as 11th place in the first moto.

Villopoto-motocross-7-22-13WASHOUGAL, Wash. – Heading into Round 8 of the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, Poulsbo native Ryan Villopoto carried a winless record in his home state of Washington. On Saturday, Villopoto went head-to-head with this season’s biggest rival, Ryan Dungey, where he captured his first ever overall victory at Washougal for the 33rd Annual Peterson CAT Washougal National.

Perhaps Villopoto’s 450 Class victory was a personal milestone for the 2011 450 Class Champion, but it also served as an end to Dungey’s five-year win streak at Washougal. Villopoto and Dungey split moto wins for the day, providing an exciting afternoon of racing at the championship’s only stop in the Pacific Northwest.

Heading into the second half of the season, 2011 450 Class Champion Ryan Villopoto and defending 450 Class Champion Ryan Dungey share the first six overall victories with three wins, respectively. Although each rider holds three overall wins, it’s Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Villopoto who tops the championship standings by a 12-point margin over Red Bull KTM’s Dungey. En route to his current points lead in the 450 Class, Villopoto has captured nine moto wins-the most of the season-as well as the distinction of being the only rider to win a moto at every race. While Dungey only has three moto wins under his belt, the Minnesota native is the only rider to finish atop the podium at each round of the championship thus far. Dungey looks to defend his two-race overall win streak against Villopoto this Saturday at RedBud
