SCORE Officials announces today a shakeup in the overall finishers at the 2013 Mastercraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250. After receiving a penalty for veering too far off the course (a 500-foot rule was instituted by SCORE’s Roger Norman), Bryce Menzies moved backed to second place which meant Gustavo Vildosola moved into the first-place spot for the overall victory. Finishing after Menzies in third place was last year’s winner Rob MacCachren, who moved up a spot after Juan Carlos Lopez was assessed a penalty.

In the Pro Motorcycle class, KTM-mounted Kurt Caselli was unofficially named the winner but later penalized for straying too far off course, giving the win to JCR Honda’s Timmy Weigand. Caselli moved back into second place, while Kendall Norman (who solo-ed the race) moved up into the final podium spot.

SANTEE, Calif. – FOX—the industry-leading ride dynamics company—sponsored athletes Jesse Jones and Bryce Menzies are teaming up once again in Baja. They first teamed up at the 2012 Baja 500 sharing pits and logistics—the move paid off netting Bryce the overall win and his second consecutive Baja 500 win and Jessie reaching the podium in third place. They’re stepping up their collaboration for the Baja 1000 by and sharing driving duties of Jones’ FOX OFFROAD Racing trophy truck—a move that without a doubt, strikes fear in the trophy truck field.

The 45th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 is a point-to-point peninsula run that starts in Ensenada, Baja California Sur and finishes 1121.55 miles south in La Paz, Baja California Sur. From the start of the race to the finish, the FOX Raptor will be running as fast as possible. The Jones/Menzies crew have to manage their logistics carefully. Assets need to be in place when the truck pulls in to pit. Mechanical difficulties, course conditions, the weather; racing in Baja is always a challenge. The most carefully detailed plans can change instantly. Crews need to think on their feet and adapt to the situation. Some crews are in place in remote sections that have limited access. Others run the length of the peninsula, sometimes leap frogging each other to stay in contact with the race truck. If they fail to keep up they get left behind, no longer able to assist.

Twenty of the 33 Trick Trucks entered in the 2012 Blue Water Resort & Casino Parker “425”, February 3rd thru 5th, have signed up to take part in this year’s Trick Truck Challenge. This will be the second year for the Trick Truck Challenge that saw over $134,000 in bonus money paid out in 2011. To be eligible for the year-long Challenge, Trick Truck teams must be signed up by the Parker “425” race.

Casey Folks, Director of Best In The Desert, announced, “As of January 25th, 20 of the top Trick Truck teams in the world have signed up for the second year of the exciting Best in the Desert $120,000 Trick Truck Challenge. That’s right – one hundred and twenty thousand dollars paid back 100% to the racers. A special bonus purse will be paid out to the top three participating Trick Truck finishers at each of the six Best In The Desert races as well as the year-end bonus. The special Trick Truck Challenge Cup Trophy will also be awarded at the end of the year to the overall winning team.” Folks continued, “No other off-road racing organization has a program like the Best in the Desert Trick Truck Challenge. I’ve always said, either lead, follow or get out of our way and Best in the Desert is in the lead!”

$10,000 will be paid to 1st, $6,000 to 2nd and $3,000 to 3rd for each of six races for a total of $19,000 per race. An additional $10,000 will go to 1st place, $4,000 for 2nd and $2,000 for 3rd in the final year-end standings. Plus another $44,000 in year-end bonus has been posted from sponsors TSCO, Camburg Engineering, Jimco Racing, Geiser Bros., MasterCraft and Racer Engineering.

Best in the Desert’s Casey Folks announced today that more than 270 entries have already signed up to compete in the epic TSCO Vegas to Reno race on August 18-20. With more entries continuing to come in, close to 300 are expected by race day. The steadily growing field features big numbers in several classes. Three of the fastest classes have a total of 87 entries so far. There are 27 800+ horsepower Trick Trucks; 39 Class 1500 unlimited buggies, and 21 Class 7200 Mini Trick Trucks. On the powersports front, there are 15 UTVs, 22 quads, and 75 motorcycles registered.

The entry list reads like a “who’s who” of the world’s foremost off-road racers. B.J. Baldwin, Chad Ragland, brothers Tim and Troy Herbst, Larry Roeseler, Mark McMillin, John Swift, Steve Olliges, Jason Voss, Will Staats, Mastercraft’s Robbie Pierce, Steve Sourapas, Rick Geiser, Rick D. The long list of Class 1500 drivers include 2010 defending class champion Chris Kemp, Gary Weyhrich, Chuck Hovey, Sam Berri, Shannon Campbell, Mike Childress, Pat Dean, T.J. At 549 miles in length, the Best In The Desert TSCO “Vegas to Reno” race is certifiably “The Longest Off-Road Race in the United States. It also marks the midway point for the five-race 2011 Best In The Desert season featuring the car and truck classes and is one of the most popular events on the schedule. TSCO “Vegas to Reno” marks the third race of the year for the 2011 Trick Truck Challenge. The Challenge features 23 of the world’s top Trick Truck race teams shooting for a share of the $134,000 in bonus cash and year end trophy. To date, $42,600 has been paid out for the Parker “425” and Silver State “300” top finishers.

ENSENADA, Mexico (June 1, 2011) –  Desert racing teams look to put BFGoodrich Tires and its portfolio of desert-conquering tires to the test again at this year’s 43rd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada, Mexico, starting Saturday, June 4. Armed with a team of all-star drivers, BFGoodrich Tires is looking to further establish its legacy of winning performances by capturing its 28th win in 31 years of racing at the 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 500.

The Tough Course Ahead
The 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 500 will host nearly 250 entries in 28 Pro and seven Sportsman classes. The rugged 452.84-mile course is similar to last year’s course, although it is 14 miles longer due to terrain changes from natural weather patterns.

“The course is shaping up to be as rugged as ever, and we’re looking forward to putting our tires to the test once again in one of the toughest racing environments imaginable,” said Silvia Mammone, BFGoodrich Tires motorsports and sponsorship manager. “This year has been good for BFGoodrich Tires in SCORE competition thus far, but now it’s time to repeat victory, both at the Baja 500 in June and the 1000 in November.”

Be Part of the Race Action from Your Home
BFGoodrich Tires and International Racing Consultants (IRC) have once again partnered to provide a full race-fan experience, including live vehicle-tracking display, a live audio feed, and live and recorded streaming video. Fans will be able to chat live with other fans and teams through an interactive chat board. Beginning on Saturday, June 4, fans can log onto www.bfgoodrichtires.com to begin their race adventure. The site will lead fans to a live tracking page that will show the location of all vehicles equipped with IRC tracking systems.

The BFGoodrich Tires Arsenal of Drivers
Andy McMillin, Bryce Menzies, Rob MacCachren and Jesse Jones are some of the BFGoodrich Tires drivers to watch for at the Tecate SCORE Baja 500. Each has been tremendously successful in 2011 racing in the desert on BFGoodrich® Baja T/A®KR tires.

McMillin, the reigning Tecate SCORE Baja 500 champion, will start the race in second position behind pole-sitter Menzies, who won the 2011 SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge and placed sixth in class at the 2011 SCORE San Felipe 250. McMillin is looking to add to his list of Baja accomplishments by capturing his sixth overall victory south of the border. McMillin has already reached the podium in 2011, with a third place overall finish at the SCORE San Felipe 250.

“I am excited about this year’s SCORE Baja 500,” said 2010 Tecate SCORE Baja 500 winner McMillin. “We have worked hard all season for this race, and this year’s course is very similar to the one we won on last year. Racing on BFGoodrich tires provides me with the confidence to push as hard as we need to at any given time. We had no flats during last year’s race, proving that BFGoodrich Tires is by far the leader in desert-racing tire durability and performance.”

MacCachren, a veteran off-road racer fresh off his 2011 SCORE San Felipe 250 overall victory, will have to fight his way through the dust of the nine trophy trucks starting in front of him. Jones, who drew the 12th spot, was the 2010 SCORE overall champion and placed second overall at the 2011 SCORE San Felipe 250, less than one minute behind MacCachren.

With the Tecate SCORE Baja 500, BFGoodrich Tires will be looking to secure a third consecutive victory in the 2011 SCORE International Racing Series season, after wins earlier this year at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge and the SCORE San Felipe 250. In 2010, BFGoodrich Tires and its all-star team of drivers conquered the desert-racing series by capturing a first place finish at each of the five SCORE desert races.

Desert-Conquering Tires and Support
Each year, BFGoodrich teams compete on a variety of tires, including the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/AKO tire, BFGoodrich Baja T/A tire and BFGoodrich Baja T/AKR tire. BFGoodrich Tires also supports the entire Baja Challenge (BC) Class at the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 with
BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/AKM2 tires.

In addition to supplying tires to a number of Tecate SCORE Baja 500 competitors, BFGoodrich Tires will continue to lend pit and communications support to teams through its fleet of off-road motorsports vehicles. This immense undertaking involves more than 250 off-road enthusiasts and volunteers who donate their time in order to help make the race an overwhelming success.

Las Vegas, Nevada Tuesday, April 26, 2011: Casey Folks announced today that more than 225 racers have already signed up to challenge the Bilek Racing Silver State 300. This record setting entry is featuring some big numbers in several classes. Two of the fastest classes have 61 entries: 24 800+ Horsepower Trick Trucks, 27 Class 1500 unlimited buggies and an incredible 35 Class 4400 Ultra 4 rigs.

Whos racing? The fastest, most prestigious list of racing names in off-road competition! The Trick Trucks include names like defending class champ B.J. Baldwin, Parker 425 winner Jesse Jones, Chad Ragland, Greg Nunley, Ed Stout, Adam Householder, John Swift, Steve Olliges, Shawn & Steve Croll, Jason Voss, Steve Sourapas, Rick Geiser, Ron Whitton, Marc Ewing, Rick D. Johnson, Jerry Zaiden, Mark & Gary Weyhrich, Scott Whipple. Class 1500 features names like Chris Kemp, Chuck Hovey, Sam Berri, Todd Jergensen, Shannon Campbell, Steve Appleton, Mike Childress, Mike Bilek, Pat Dean, T.J. Flores.

This race also features the largest field of Class 4400 Ultra 4 racers to ever enter a Best in the Desert event. Ultra 4 racers from across the United States and Canada are coming to Las Vegas to take on the challenging Silver State 300 course as they attempt to qualify for the 2012 King of the Hammers event.

The Silver State 300 course starts at an elevation of 3500 feet and climbs as high as 7400 feet as it winds its way across some of the roughest and most beautiful terrain eastern Nevada has to offer. Many races have stated that it is this extremely challenging course and perfect time of year that has made this race so attractive to them and their competitors.

Folks was quoted, As I have always said, there is no race like a Best in the Desert event. At last years Bilek Racing Silver State 300 only 94 seconds separated the winner and 2nd place; and just 7 minutes was the gap between the top 7 finishers. With this many extremely fast and professional racers signed up – the 2011 Bilek Silver State 300 will be one for the record books. Plus with temperatures in the low 60s and partly cloudy predicted for race day – its going to be another great race!

Time Trials for Classes 1400 and 1500 along with a shot at the Team Ford Pole Award will be held Thursday, April 27th. The qualifying order will be announced and the $1000 Pole Award will be presented 7 PM Thursday evening at Camachos Cantina inside the Aliante Station Hotel & Casino.

Registration, Tech Inspection and Contingency will be held on Friday, April 29, at the Aliante Station Hotel & Casino in North Las Vegas, and the race will take place on Saturday, April 30! The start line is in Alamo, Nevada and the finish line will be about 20 miles south of the Alamo area. The race is a single loop consisting 303 miles. Remember, life is short, you need to live your life to the fullest each day and grasp all of the excitement and the challenges live has to offer. Dont miss out racing and experiencing a great course and seeing what this part of Nevada has to offer.

Rob MacCachren has long held a reputation for being a talented driver, the kind of “hired gun” you add to the team to guarantee victory.  Yet despite over 175 event wins and 20 championships, his “hired gun” status also meant that he had never won a SCORE Trophy Truck race as the Driver of Record.  All that changed when MacCachren and co-driver, Cisco Bio, bested a field of 220 worthy competitors at the 2011 MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 in the No. 20 SCORE Trophy Truck sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink and MasterCraft Safety.

“We have knocked on the door and come so close so many times; it is great to finally take home the victory for everyone who has worked so hard to make this program possible.  I didn’t just want this win for myself and the sponsors, I wanted it for the team.”

Rob MacCachren started 11th in a crowded field of 24 SCORE Trophy Trucks and quickly worked his way towards the front, battling with the 2010 SCORE Trophy Truck champion, Jesse Jones, for the physical lead.  MacCachren was able to traverse the entire 252.09 mile treacherous course in an impressive four hours, 17 minutes and 45 seconds with no flats from his BFGoodrich tires.  Battling a slipping steering belt for most of the race, the Las Vegas native took a gamble during the fuel stop at race mile 108 by opting to spray the belt with carburetor cleaner and get back on course as quickly as possible.  The gamble paid off as ‘Rockstar Rob’ not only claimed the class win, he also claimed the overall victory and took the checkered flag just 44 seconds ahead of the second overall finisher, Jesse Jones.

With the 2011 BlueWater Resort Parker “425” coming up at the start of February, Casey Folks announced a large payout for the Trick Truck class at the race.
