RPM/KTM rider Maria Forsberg claimed her eighth win of the season and her second career championship in the Women’s class at the eleventh round of the Grand National Cross Country Series held in Somerset, PA.

Forsberg not only won the Women’s series, she dominated the series. At the weekend’s Mountain Ridge GNCC she finished 2nd overall in the morning class while winning the Women’s class finishing over 17 minutes ahead of the 2nd place rider.

The 4-time WORCS Champion, now 2-time GNCC Champion and X-Game Women’s EnduroCross Gold medalist has proven to be one of the best decorated and versatile athletes in the sport of women’s off-road motorcycle racing.

Her championship in the 2011 GNCC Series comes to her two rounds early as a result of her impressive eight race win streak this season. “It feels really good to wrap up the championship early. I did not expect to dominate the way I have this season and I am so grateful that I had the RPM/KTM Team behind me to help me win this championship. My KTM 250 XC-F has held up through every race this season and we never had any mechanical issues. I am looking forward to riding more relaxed the next two rounds and perhaps racing in the afternoon class at one of them to see where I end up,” remarked Forsberg.

Irvine, CA (August 4, 2011) – Still buzzing from his X Games gold medal, Poland’s Taddy Blazusiak is fired up for the Everett Washington EnduroCross event that will take place on Saturday, August 13th. “X Games just took off road motorcycle racing to a whole new level” Taddy texted the morning after winning Gold inside the Staples Center. “It was so amazing to race with live ESPN coverage and the huge crowd inside the arena so I can’t wait for Everett”. X Games was a great way to kick off the 2011 GEICO AMA EnduroCross series, presented by Lucas Oil and the riders will get to race in less than two weeks in Everett Washington and then again on Friday, August 26th in Indianapolis Indiana.

Taddy’s excitement about the remainder of the series is not surprising but Maria Forsberg, the women’s X Games Enduro X Gold Medalist is also planning to compete in Everett. The Seattle resident will compete against the men since the women’s class was a one off for X Games only because there are not a lot of female riders willing to put themselves through that kind of punishment. So it will be interesting to see if Maria can earn a spot in the amateur class main event.

If you live anywhere in the Pacific Northwest, you can make plans for an awesome day and night of action. The pit area and Comcast Arena are open for FREE all day to the public to watch the riders practice and qualify for the evening program. But if you want a seat for the main events, you better get a ticket since this event was a sellout last year.

Ticket information for all of the GEICO EnduroCross events can be found at www.EnduroCross.com.

KTM earned two spots on the podium at the eighth round of the GNCC Series as KTM support rider Nate Kanney earned 2nd overall followed by FMF/KTM rider Charlie Mullins who finished 3rd.

Both riders started the race inside the top ten and quickly moved up through the pack. Kanney and Mullins came across the first lap in 2nd and 3rd place. Mullins moved into the lead at one point early in the race before he became tangled with a lapper and lost precious time. When he recovered he had fallen to 5th place and he spent the remaining three laps working his way back onto the podium.

Kanney started 2nd and remained in 2nd to earn his best finish this season. “I love this race and am very excited to finish on the podium here. It was a tough ride today but I had a lot of fun,” remarked Kanney.

Mullins commented, “I am excited to get 3rd here. I have always had bad luck at this race and to land on the podium is great news.”

Mullins’ teammates, Kailub Russell and Cory Buttrick earned spots within the top ten finishing 6th and 8th overall.

In the XC2 class, KTM support rider Steward Baylor rode his most impressive race of the season. Baylor put his KTM two-stroke in the lead early on and went on to take a huge win. In addition to winning his class he placed 3rd in the overall combined finishes.

“My bike worked great today,” remarked Baylor. “The course was so muddy and challenging but the two-stroke handled it well. I had no issues and put in a great ride.”

Continuing her winning trend, RPM/KTM rider Maria Forsberg, took another win in the Women’s Pro class. Forsberg lead every lap of the race and went on to win by eight minutes.
