The 11th Annual Nitto King of the Hammers Powered by Optima Batteries kicked off this past weekend, with King of the Motos taking center stage at the start of Hammers week. The new tweak to this year’s event was the breakup of action into three separate moto stages, with a key focus on navigation and, of course, pure grit.
The GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship is heading to Atlanta and the East Coast of the U.S for the first time since 2009! EnduroCross’ high-paced action and wild obstacles expect to attract a large crowd and a host of new riders from the south. The Gwinnett Center will host the EnduroCross regulars and local racers on Saturday, August 23rd.
Beta USA’s Cody Webb tackles one of the toughest races in the world this coming weekend (May 29 – June 1), the Red Bull Hare Scramble, in Austria. The Red Bull Hare Scramble consists of a four hour race where racers must reach 20 check points during the allotted time to win the event; an accomplishment that very few riders attain. While Webb is one of the few Americans representing this year, his technical skills, endurocross experience, and trials background should make him a contender for the win.
MEDFORD, OR – Motorcycle Superstore/Bell Helmet support rider Cody Webb is ready to rumble when the gate drops at Round 1 of the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series this Friday, May 2, inside the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
In 2013, Webb finished an impressive third overall in the series and that was after missing the Sacramento round due to a broken foot. That’s 25 points he lost in one round – Webb was only 11 points out from winning last year’s championship.
We know that Cody Webb crossed the finish line first, and it appears unofficially that he’s won the 2014 King of the Motos from here in Johnson Valley, California, but we’re still waiting on official results from today’s race.
Las Vegas, NV – The 2013 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship, fueled by Monster Energy came down the final race and Taddy Blazusiak and Mike Brown engaged in an epic battle for several laps before Brown went down and ultimately finished ninth. Blazusiak finished fifth to secure his fifth consecutive championship. “That was probably the worst race in my life but it was all about me and Brownie” Blazusiak said. “We got together in the first turn and then again in the second turn and it went from race mode to crazy mode. We must have hit fifteen times but we got it done to win the fifth title” he continued.
Beta’s Cody Webb won the Vegas finale to take his third win of the season, more than any other rider. Webb missed one race due to a broken foot but still finished third in the championship. “I am ecstatic right now. I had a great season except for that little setback” Webb said. “The track tonight was insane but I loved it”. Webb crossed the finish line in eleventh on the first lap but quickly moved to fourth due to a huge pile up on the second lap that included Brown, Blazusiak and David Knight. Webb took his time passing Cory Graffunder, Kyle Redmond and Geoff Aaron and took the lead on lap six of twelve. He slowly opened up a comfortable lead and ultimately won by five seconds.
Everett, Washington – The chase for the 2013 GEICO AMA EnduroCross series, fueled by Monster Energy and presented by Lucas Oil visited a sold out Comcast Arena in Everett Washington and Beta’s Cody Webb took a thrilling win to move into a tie for third in points. Webb passed KTM’s Mike Brown for the lead on lap ten of twelve to take the win. Brown had to hold off Rockstar/Lucas Oil backed Colton Haaker to take second. Taddy Blazusiak salvaged fourth place despite two crashes in the main and a nasty crash during the first practice that injured his right wrist. Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder rode a strong race to take fifth.
Kyle Redmond, Brown and Blazusiak won the three heat races, which all included exciting battles. The thirteen riders that qualified for the main via the heats and LCQ’s each completed a single Hot Lap against the clock to determine the gate picks. Webb set the fastest time to get the first pick ahead of Monster Kawasaki’s Taylor Robert, Blazusiak, Haaker and Redmond. Brown had a near crash into the pond, which contributed to him earning the ninth pick and a less desirable outside pick.
Denver, CO – Beta’s Cody Webb earned his first ever GEICO AMA EnduroCross main event win in Denver, Colorado. He battled with Colton Haaker for several laps and then capitalized on a mistake by the JCR Honda rider to take the lead and then steadily pull away from a multi rider battle for second. Taddy Blazusiak and Taylor Robert moved through the field to earn second and third.
Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder, Robert and Webb were the three heat race winners but the new night time hot lap format decides the main event gate picks. Haaker set the fastest time over Webb and Robert. Brown crashed during the hot lap and had the slowest time of the thirteen riders, which meant he had to start on the second row.
August 20th, 2013 – Cody Webb and Taylor Robert join forces for Episode 96 of Seat Time to discuss their first and second place finishes this past weekend at the Tennessee Knock Out in Sequatchie, TN. From all accounts, Webb had a dominating performance to take his first TKO win, after two years of being the runner-up. This was Robert’s first attempt at the American Extreme Enduro, showcasing his technical skills have been steadily been improving throughout 2013.
Even though the World X Games came to a close recently in Los Angeles, it will be good to get Robert and Webb’s account of the Staples Center Enduro X event. Webb came away with a Bronze medal, even though he is still recovery from a foot injury. Robert recently won Gold in Munich and wrapped up with a 5th in LA.
Enduro Cross specialists Cody Webb came oh-so close to winning his first ever AMA National Endurocross event on Saturday at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, California. The Beta racer started the night out with a solid third place in the hot lap session (Hot laps determine heat races for the evening shows). Webb then put his Stillwell Performance tuned Beta 350 RR into the night’s main event by easily winning his heat race.
In the main, Webb came of the line in second and started pushing series points leader Taddy Blazusiak for the lead. Webb continued to push until he forced Blazusiak to make a mistake in the rock section. Webb put his head down and rode hard for the next four laps with Taddy on his heels as the two pulled away from the rest of the field. Webb made a slight bobble in the log pile section which allowed Blazusiak to pass for the win.
