LFort Mill, SC – June 18, 2013 – Team GT veteran, Carl Renezeder, has himself a six-pack…of wins that is.  To date, in the 2013 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) season, Renezeder has managed to take home all six of the Pro-4 winner trophies.  In fact, he has an eight race Pro-4 winning streak that dates back to the Challenge Cup in 2012.  This weekend at Miller Motorsports Park, Renezeder looks to extend that streak to 10 and add to his list of 111 career wins.

While Renezeder makes winning look easy, the competition in LOORRS is anything but.  To win a LOORRS race a driver needs tenacity, finesse, assertiveness and a good set of General Tire Red Letter Grabbers.  The combination of changing track conditions, truck set-up and the other 15+ drivers around you, make for some dicey situations but Renezeder has the right combination figured out and we sat down with him this week to find out how he makes the on-track magic happen.  Here’s what he had to say:

Lucas-Oil-Loanmart-5-2-13Las Vegas, NV – The LoanMart Racing Team underwent a major expansion in 2013 adding Austin Kimbrell’s Pro2, Corry Weller in Pro4 and Oscar Rodriguez, RJ Anderson and Ryan Beat in the Prolite class. The entire driver line-up has years of racing experience but it is also a season of firsts for the team. Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Rounds 3 and 4 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway showed what they are capable of when they are firing on all cylinders.

After qualifying eighth for round 3, Corry Weller took her first Pro4 podium of the season by holding off a hard charging Eric Barron for the third spot. While Rob MacCachren and Carl Renezeder were fighting for the lead, Corry was in a tense battle; banging doors for two laps with Barron. The poise and determination she has demonstrated throughout her racing career was once again on display and her truck was hooked up despite the punishment. The crowd went crazy when she beat Barron to the line.

For Austin Kimbrell the first rounds of the series have been filled with frustration. In pre-season testing, he was very fast in his LoanMart Pro2 but ill-timed driveline issues have taken him out of the running on raceday. In round 3, he lost a motor causing his crew to work through the night to prepare for round 4 qualifying. The hard work paid off when Austin took the truck out and qualified third for Sunday’s race.

Carl-Renezeder-Lucas-Oil-5-2-13LAKE FOREST, CA (May 2, 2013) – Not only has eight-time champion, Carl Renezeder, swept the first four rounds of races in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Pro-4 division in 2013, if you go back to the end of 2012, you’ll find that he’s on a six-race winning streak and has won eight out of the last nine races.  That’s a pretty serious stat.  It’s all business when the he straps the helmet on and pulls the belts tight, but there’s a lighter side to Renezeder that friends, family, crew and fans also find endearing.

For instance, before he climbed into the race truck on Saturday afternoon, he arrived in staging whistling the tune to the Andy Griffith Show.  It’s good to know that while he takes the racing very seriously, he doesn’t take himself all that serious.  Even his chatter over the radio to his spotter is comprised of goofy moments, like the lap before the green flag in Sunday’s Pro-2 race when his request was to “please keep me apprised of all the inside line craziness.”  Perhaps that kind of lightheartedness is what’s need to balance out the intensity of four races in two days, and all the demands that go along with it.

Renezeder-Lucas-Oil-3-21-13LAKE FOREST, CA – The scorecard at the end of the opening weekend of racing for Carl Renezeder said three wins and one second out of four races.  That kind of near-perfection doesn’t come around often, and the team was wise to pause for a moment on Sunday night to thank one another for the hard work, dedication and optimism during the off-season that paid off all weekend.

“You guys gave me reliable, fast trucks that I could put anywhere I wanted to on the track,” commented Renezeder to his crew at the close of rounds one and two of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series season at Firebird International Raceway this past weekend.  “I’m really proud of this team.”

“The Lucas Oil Challenge Cup is always crazy,” said Renezeder.  “When you put money and bragging rights on the line without any championship implications, things can get out of hand. We had a perfect day and a perfect race, and that’s why we were able to win. We avoided the carnage and the truck was exactly how I love it – I could put it anywhere and it would work. I’m incredibly proud of our team and the way we’ve worked through the adversity of the first half of the season to finish with five wins over the last two events.”
